Now that you mentioned Microsoft Edge, I think the issue arises because it starts with Windows by default. In this case the solution is simple, just disable Microsoft Edge at startup so it doesn't load automatically with Windows. You can always load it manually if you want to use it. If you use...
I rather use Windows with some minor issues than Linux with major incompatibilities and difficulties. I had seen a picture comparing OSes to cars. Mac OS was a totally automatic car with just on/off button (supposedly too easy to use), Windows was a normal car with automatic transmission, and...
I just tried both the "traditional" ALT+SHIFT and the new WIN+SPACE combinations. Both seems to work good now, no lags.
Tip for those connecting remotely: I have observed that when you release the SHIFT key first and then the ALT key, it might change the language of the local computer, but not...
I may be wrong, but I think USB 3.0 (or higher) and Thunderbolt are not always plug 'n' play. I mean some times Windows detect the device and automatically installs drivers for it, but other times you have to manually download and install drivers from manufacturer's support site. It depends on...
Well if the drive is faulty I would avoid the chkdsk command. In the past I have lost some files when I attempted to fix a faulty drive with the chkdsk format. I would copy-paste as many files as I can to another drive. I would even use a data recovery utility to recover more files. There are...
This is very frustrating. I have too searched for something and the results where not only the opposite, but even irrelevant to what I wanted. Unless you know the exact keywords, you cannot find what you want. If I wanted the exact keywords, most likely I would also know how to do it! I wouldn't...
Any Windows version can be made very fast if you switch off or disable the stuff that slows it down. Disable all transparency, fades, animations everywhere. This will make the graphics much faster and also speed up Windows a little. Next step is to disable all useless startup applications such...
I have a PDF explaining which files you have to patch to force Windows 8 32-bit run on old Intel Pentium 4 socket 478 systems without NX/PAE support. I would start by replacing these files first. Probably these files are the appropriate for Windows 11 too, but I will test my theory on the...
They most likely use a new bootloader and installer requiring the PopCnt instruction. Both might be possible to bypass by replacing the relevant files with those from 23H2 version.
Again let's hope this is only a hardware requirement for installation or upgrade. If most Windows 11 code doesn't use PopCnt instruction or SSE4.2 Microsoft would have to rewrite it to force this requirement. Not very likely to rewrite most of Windows 11 code.
Microsoft pushes ads in the default start menu and search box. Replacing these with Explorer Patcher or otherwise doesn't show these ads and they don't like it.
