Slow boot

Windows 11
The folks on this forum have been really helpful and I’m hoping they can help me out again.

I have had to reinstall my windows 11. It went on to the original 1tb nvme drive. In addition there is a 2tb nvme drive for flight simulator software. I started off by simply installing the OS and the flight sim software. Boot up through the bios and up to the pin screen was extremely fast and onto the desktop was the same.

I then connected 2x 2tb SSD drives to the sata connection on the motherboard. After they were connected the boot process became extremely slow and I don’t know why?

Any ideas as to why this would occur

I don't have any SATA SSD disks, but it seems that in BIOS/UEFI they should have AHCI mode selected for them (if not using RAID).

Are the new disks formatted ?

The Device Manager shows that everything is fine ?

Disable Fast Startup.

You can disable disk checking at startup.

To disable automatic disk checking on Windows startup, go to the following registry section:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

the "BootExecute" key

The default value of this key is "autocheck autochk *"

If you want to disable checking on other disks as well (e.g. E: and F: drives )

autocheck autochk /k:E /k:F *

In any case, if you disable disk checking at boot, you should periodically check the disks manually. You can check the status of a disk in this way:

and what's in the system log?

I, for example, always have

I discovered what the problem was. I had disconnected one ssd from the actual ssd itself, however the cable was still connected in the motherboard. The moment I took that out too I was back to very fast boot up. I don’t know if windows was looking for a drive that wasn’t there maybe?

Thanks again though for all of your input, very much appreciated
