  1. Specific file shows in directory on Explorer, but not in mirrored directory on Google Drive

The extra column gets inserted, but all the short file names are blank.
  2. Specific file shows in directory on Explorer, but not in mirrored directory on Google Drive

That's the thing. You can't delete desktop.ini. Just tried that from the command prompt and it says "the system cannot find the file specified". And it's right there in the directory listing for G:\My Drive. But if you look at the same directory on the browser interface, it's not there. And...
  3. Specific file shows in directory on Explorer, but not in mirrored directory on Google Drive

Maybe so, but something has changed. I've been using these same FreeFileSync definitions for close to three years, and this problem only started after the 24H2 update. Coincidence or not, that's the timing. And I need a fix.
  4. Specific file shows in directory on Explorer, but not in mirrored directory on Google Drive

Yes, the file shows from command prompt. So, looking at G:\ using both Explorer and dir from the command prompt shows it present, looking at Google Drive through the browser interface does not show it present. And legitimately, it shouldn't be there. It's not a file that you would normally find...
  5. Specific file shows in directory on Explorer, but not in mirrored directory on Google Drive

I do regular backups from the C:\ drive to Google Drive's "My Drive". I'm letting Google Drive sync, this is a backup defined in FreeFileSync to look at specific directories and make that directory on G: match the contents of the same directory on C;\. Adds new files, updates newer versions...
  6. Your impressions of 24H2, plus/minus of moving to it

Not what I wanted to hear. I've got Macrium and am comfortable making full images. But. I haven't worked out the particulars of doing a restore, nor have I tested it (to whatever extent you can do that without actually restoring). And that adds a level that will likely have to wait a month or...
  7. Your impressions of 24H2, plus/minus of moving to it

Apologies in advance for what will sound like a clueless newb post, the type that usually prompts replies like "use the search function" or "why haven't you read this or that existing thread that answers your exact question." I'll just say that I'm dealing with some seriously urgent things at...
  8. Solved Using new Samsung A54 as USB drive

@Edwin Thanks for responding. Yeah, I get that notification on the phone when I plug it into the USB cable. And that's part of why I kept suspecting the PC instead of the phone. I kept stewing over the fact that Explorer could see the phone, copy files from it to the computer, and so on. But...
  9. Solved Using new Samsung A54 as USB drive

I get a new phone only every 4 or 5 years, so I forget all the particulars of connecting them to my PC as a USB device. I have a new Samsung A54 and need to use it as a USB drive. Don't want to have it automatically sync with Windows Phone Link when connected or any of that kind of stuff, just...
  10. Cooling fan has recently started running a lot

@glasskuter Overclocking is outside my experience. I (perhaps naively) thought overclocking was something a user, say a gamer, did by choice and intent, through some setting they changed themselves. Do I understand you correctly that the system might, using whatever criteria, decide to overclock...
  11. Cooling fan has recently started running a lot

DPC and ISR are outside my experience. How might they cause the fan to run more? Why does the recent patch Tues update cause them?
  12. Cooling fan has recently started running a lot

I can't say exactly when, but the cooling fan on my laptop (specs in my sig) has start running longer, harder, and more frequently. If I do Ctl-Alt-Del and start Task Manager, it very briefly shows 80+% CPU usage, which of course accounts for the fan. But the act of starting Task Manager makes...
  13. BSOD while doing "save as" in a program

As a trial run of Lenovo UEFI, I chose the "short unattended" option, selecting "run all". It (obviously) runs the short form of all tests and bypasses anything that needs user interaction. Photo screen at completion attached, as well as the text file log. The photo has the summary in the...
  14. BSOD while doing "save as" in a program

I downloaded the Lenovo UEFI diagnostics PDF. A LOT of info there - all, of course, new to me. I don't want to do something wrong and screw up my system. Should I have it run all the tests or certain specific ones? (For example, it might seem unneeded to let it run the battery down. And some...
  15. BSOD while doing "save as" in a program

Well, now... Patch Tuesday updates ran last night. When the computer restarted, the E drive was connected. Side note - I took a quick look at the directories on it and confirmed that it is only (as expected) a redundant copy of D, which is my primary backup. No need for any data recovery from...
