No longer in my HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\ path in registry but even after restarting the cur and ani files are still associated with and showing icons for IrfanView. Must be in local machine hive?

IrfanView took over my CUR and ANI files, would love a restore to set those back if only to get the explorer thumbs to show.

yeah it's crazy how bad it is. I have no idea what made my fans blast at 100% powerful when S0 came on, as far as I could determine the CPU was idle and it wasn't producing much heat... seems like bad firmware development to me on Dell's part.

Same thing, I have some cases every month where I run a script that takes maybe 5 hours to crawl some sites or whatever, but I want the screens to turn off after 10 idle minutes. I think this works for me. It's a laptop, but it nearly never leaves my desk.

That appears to be what happened for me. S0 disabled but S3 didn't become available. Actually no sleep command appears on the system now, although I'm not super sorry about that, maybe it'll solve my little pet peeve anyway, since this PC basically never leaves the desk, I just want it to not...

Ran the command and rebooted, but it appears to have disabled S0 without enabling S3. This may not be expected result but who knows, maybe it'll actually solve my own personal problem case of an obnoxiously loud fan when the screens turn off, at the expense of perhaps some power savings.
