  1. Image analysis tool (preferably free) for validating image quality

The idea is to be able to select an image file for analysis and receive a report of image quality. You could then do this for multiple copies of an image and then be able to select the best quality image, or trash any that are "deceptive" (large image dimensions, but relatively low image...
  2. Solved DISM says component store reparable, but attempt to repair is stuck at 62.3%

OK, good news. The SFC /scannow has confirmed. My save point recovery had brought me back to 22H2, and before when I tried to use Windows Update to roll forward to 23H2, it would immediately fail. And I think that must've been something to do with the component store errors. I just now ran...
  3. Solved DISM says component store reparable, but attempt to repair is stuck at 62.3%

That's a good question. I had issues with HP support validating the sending of replacement RAM for a 2nd time (it's a long story--the first replacement wasn't the same as original memory specs and my notebook refused to boot--couldn't even get to the BIOS). SO, I'm going to send in the notebook...
  4. Solved DISM says component store reparable, but attempt to repair is stuck at 62.3%

OK. I rebooted again, and this time I managed to restart in full safe mode (not command prompt). From there I could run SFC /scannow and DISM. The scanhealth flag worked and completed successfully. Running the StartComponentCleanup flag now... and YES, it just indicated that it completed...
  5. Solved DISM says component store reparable, but attempt to repair is stuck at 62.3%

Thanks. I had run SFC /SCANNOW and it did find issues. But the DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth gave a prognosis that the component store was reparable. In the past I have run "RestoreHealth" and it worked with no problems. I've rebooted my problem computer and it's presently in a...
  6. Solved DISM says component store reparable, but attempt to repair is stuck at 62.3%

I was able to finally figure out that {default} was the preferred value (not "Windows 11"). But the bcdedit commands still failed. Thus, what I did was to run a command to force a shutdown and boot into command prompt. "shutdown /r /o /f /t 00" The trouble is, in that state... SFC /scannow and...
  7. Solved DISM says component store reparable, but attempt to repair is stuck at 62.3%

I hadn't... but I'm now trying to boot to safe mode to do this, but the commands given in that link are failing. bcdedit /set "Windows 11" safeboot minimal --> The integer data is not valid as specified. --> Run "bcdedit /?" for command line assistance. --> The parameter is incorrect.
  8. Solved DISM says component store reparable, but attempt to repair is stuck at 62.3%

Back story: I've been having a memory problem that periodically triggers a BSOD. Windows 11 has generally been really good at recovering. I'm waiting for replacement RAM that UEFI testing found faulty. Meanwhile, I ran SFC /scannow and found that the component store has many errors in it. I've...
  9. Solved For everyone wondering if Macrium Reflect Free Still Works on Windows 11

Thanks. Nice to see they're still making it available despite not listing it as an option to download from their download page. 🍻 I was running an older version of 7. And they actually permitted me to get updated to version 8 while remaining on the free model. It also included an option for a...
  10. Solved For everyone wondering if Macrium Reflect Free Still Works on Windows 11

I'm a little confused. I see when installing Macrium Reflect, there is only a "free download" but no free software. You basically start a trial. I presume after that's over, the software is disabled until you provide a key. Is that just for show? Is there some option to keep extending the trial...
  11. System Disable Modern Standby in Windows 10 and Windows 11

I should revise this. Before I stowed my laptop the cooling fan had stopped and it looked like power was off. So perhaps it was in sleep and was somehow awakened? If so, the event viewer system log should've showed an entry, but there was none.
  12. System Disable Modern Standby in Windows 10 and Windows 11

CAUTION: My HP ZBook Firefly 15 G7 was showing S0 modern standby and hibernate only, no deep sleep. I ran the registry edit using the .reg files as provided. And while the "powercfg /a" did show after rebooting that S3 was now enabled, my ZBook failed to go into any sleep at all. It remained on...
  13. Solved Creating a secondary user account - how to ensure desired folder name gets created?

When it comes to terminology I'm an equal opportunity offender. 😂 Yes, "mapping" wasn't proper. I should've said "co-located." My understanding with the user folder location problem (corrupted co-location reference), is that it had to do with File Explorer. I hadn't tried out any alternatives...
  14. Solved Creating a secondary user account - how to ensure desired folder name gets created?

Thanks, Denis. I'll check those out. Btw, do you know if the UAC design has changed much from Windows 10 to 11? Also, were there any known flaws with Windows File Explorer in Windows 10 addressed in 11? The reason I ask is that when I'd had a bizarre folder type mapping problem showing in File...
  15. Solved Creating a secondary user account - how to ensure desired folder name gets created?

Done. Deleting the account and recreating was far easier than trying to manually fix the naming, risking some broken registry references. Created as local, then later all it took was to sign on as an MSA.
