  1. Known and Resolved issues for Windows 11 version 24H2

Anyone else having issues with apps being slow to open? UAC is particularly slow compared to what it was before 24H2. I have two machines that recently updated to 24H2. I was able to do a repair install on my desktop machine and resolve the lagginess, but my Dell laptop is still having issues...
  2. Microsoft apparently hates it when you switch from Microsoft Account to Local account

I'm not the MS fanboy I was back in the 90's. All this BS they're forcing on us is hard to take. Thankfully, I'm comfortable enough with Linux to kick MS to the curb if/when that time comes.
  3. Personalization Add or Remove OneDrive in Navigation Pane of File Explorer in Windows 11

Thank you! I reapplied both removal for current user and all users and that seems to have done the trick.
  4. Personalization Add or Remove OneDrive in Navigation Pane of File Explorer in Windows 11

Is there a new/different method for removing OneDrive - Personal from Explorer Navigation Pane? I've followed the steps to remove in Brink's original post and have also gone so far as to remove the reg hives, but after rebooting I'm back to TWO shortcuts to my OneDrive files.
  5. Botched CrowdStrike security update breaks Windows worldwide, causing BSOD and crashes

Crowdstrike must use the same QA team as Microsoft! None.
  6. Office Update Error Help (Office 2021)

I'm experiencing the same issue on my Dell laptop but my desktop updated just fine. Bleeping Computer had this article today - https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-365-office-users-hit-by-wave-of-30088-27-update-errors/ Apparently, a widespread issue. I'm not sure why...
  7. How to speed up?

Don't forget to look at your back-up medium. I do an incremental back-up to a separate internal hard disk twice a day and those are pretty fast, but when I plug in the external 5400 rpm USB disk to do my weekly backup, it takes forever. My viewpoint is that having a good backup takes as long as...
  8. Solved POLL: Would you pay for a Windows 12 subscription?

I'd drop Windows in a heartbeat if they go subscription -- just like I did Quicken and 1Password.
  9. Rumored... Windows File Explorer will tie into OneDrive, Microsoft 365

I'm all for improvements, but how about "opt-in" rather than foisting these integrations with services that not everyone wants or uses and leaving them to figure out how to rid themselves of it after the fact and causing potential issues with the OS as a whole? How hard would it be to implement...
  10. Win Update KB5019980 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Build 22621.819 (22H2) - Nov. 8

Should KB5099980 have enabled launching task manager from the task bar? I usually use Ctrl-Shift-Esc, but sometimes it's nice to have it available on the task bar.
  11. IT"S BAACK!! 22H2 ONCE AGAIN CREATING HUNDREDS OF EMPTY TMP FOLDERS

This is how I take care of mine: Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\" -Include tw*.tmp -Recurse -Directory | Remove-Item You have to run with elevated privileges. That's just one line in a larger script that gets rid of most of the temp files created...
  12. How to get the Windows 11 2022 Update (22H2)

I tried downloading the update from the Windows Catalog because it isn't being presented to me in Windows Updates. The MSU package fails with a "this update is applicable to your computer" error, yet my PC is fully compatible.
  13. File Explorer Search Box in Win 11

I've noticed lately that both the start menu and search stop working, usually after I've RDP'd from my laptop to my desktop machine. Not sure if this is a known issue, but "Get-Process explorer | Stop-Process" seems to work (but not sure why you can't just "Stop-Process explorer", it throws a...
  14. The usable memory may be less than the installed memory.

On the memory tab of task manager, does it show hardware reserved? That will likely explain why your system doesn't show that all memory is available for use.
  15. Office 2021 Update Broken After Latest Windows Update?

After fighting with this off and on for the past 4+ hours this is looking more like a CDN issue than an issue with computer/OS. I used the Office uninstall/scrub utility and tried and until just now it was downloading so slowly it took a couple of hours to get to 2%.
