    YES! Using Malwarebytes Premium. Turned it off and turned off auto-start with Windows boot-up. Did sfc / scannow and 2 disms. The KB5031455 package installs without issue. THANKS FOR SUGGESTION.

    Exact same install failures on XPS-8930 and G5-5000 machines. Recovery from failure should be smoother.
