  1. Windows users

As the previous owner had only used the system for a week or so and had not added anything beyond setting up Windows when he got it, I decided to try cleaning the registry. I found his email in 7 places and after deleting all references everything seems as it should be. Thanks to everyone for...
  2. Windows users

As I mentioned, I already did that, and no other users now appear in there - but I'm still asked whixh of 2 users I want to register when I go to install any apps that would be linked to my MS account.
  3. Windows users

Thanks - there are a lot of options in that post. I'll study them and decide which is the best way forward.
  4. Windows users

Where does Windows 11 store user details - other than in Settings/Accounts. I have taken over a pc which I have registered to my MS account, and removed the previous owner in Settings/Accounts - where no other users now show. However the e-mail address/name of the previous owner still shows up...
  5. Problem with Defender

Thanks - that was the issue. I didn't realise there was a Defenders app seperate to the Windows security system. It seems like it is part of the Office 365 subscription and the previous owner never subscribed to 365 so never signed in to Defender either. When I uninstalled the pre-installed 365...
  6. Problem with Defender

I have just taken over a PC with Windows 11. I re-registered it to my MS account and all seems OK - except: I keep getting a message sayin I should sign in to Windows Defender to stay current BUT it is asking me to sign in using the previous owners details. How do I reset this to my account. Any...
  7. Why can' t I get rid of Office 2019

Thanks agsain @antspants I had seen that before, but not sure if it would make a difference. The install package from the supplien included an xml file, but it was not as detailed as one that can be created on the link you sent - for example it did not include the license key. I'll have a look...
  8. Why can' t I get rid of Office 2019

What they supplied was a download link for a small 'installer' file which when excecuted puts a configuration.xml file in the directory along with a small setup.exe which seems to run the installation from MS site.
  9. Why can' t I get rid of Office 2019

I'm not sure. I will get them out later and try.
  10. Why can' t I get rid of Office 2019

The only one listed is 2019 - 2024 has not installed successfully yet. (it was not purchased from MS so probably wouldn't appear there anyway???)
  11. Why can' t I get rid of Office 2019

@XxXxX - Thanks for the thought. I was expecting an offline instal package as this was the practice with previous MS software I've used, and I think it was the case with 2019. If they supplied one it would not have been such a problem I'm sure and I can't find a source to download one either. I...
  12. Why can' t I get rid of Office 2019

Yeah, it seems that there are a number of different otions that people have used, sometimes they have worked, sometimes not. I had no need to 'upgrade' to 2024 and only chose to try it on my Laptop because it was valid for 3 Com[uters. As I've said, it installed on one laptop which only had an...
  13. Why can' t I get rid of Office 2019

I wanted a version of Office for installation on 2 laptops that are used in different locations on different days, and in some locations there is no internet access due to lack of broadband or mobile signal. Thats what I was informed LTSC would be best suited for, As I purchased the 3 computer...
