  1. Solved Onedrive

    I intensely dislike OneDrive’s invasive approach when implemented. Reminds me of the days when IE (and now Edge) is automatically installed as the default app. It’s a PITA to remove and (appears to/tries) to re-insert itself with every win11 update I apply. I guess many folks simply use it as...
  2. byutv.org freezing Chrome Browser and the computer

    Based on the rest of my post, it must be some setting on your PC as I was able to load it on multiple browser incl. Chrome. Doing this post from Brave on my iPad which (to be fair) is iOS not Win11. PS: it loaded on brave, safari and opera on my iPad, so it doesn’t appear to be the website.
  3. Solved Why is 2h24 a "disaster" to some people.

    My 24H2 upgrade from whatever 23H* version I was on, was clean and went fine. No issues since. But yeah, I read about the “issues” but have not experienced any.
  4. Can I identify which application is filling AppData\Local\Temp

    It's usually web browser stuff... If you use chrome you might see "chrome" prefixed folders... You can usually figure out the source from the folder names.. many apps use it.. Others are empty log files. You can safely delete the contents permanently or to recycle bin. Windows won't delete...
  5. End of support for Privacy protection (VPN) in Microsoft Defender February 28, 2025

    Some VPN's support split-tunneling where you enter the IP address of the target or the app (email) that you want to bypass the VPN client. My ISP blocks ASN IP access to their email servers, so my VPN is setup to bypass it for email. My VPN app is PIA.
  6. Weird Zip code issue

    Is it possible that there's anything in your network equipment that is a holdover from the prior owner that may contain geolocation data?
  7. Interesting "bug"? on v. 26120.3073

    Interesting.. not sure this is a Win 11 “bug” per se. I’ve seen this behavior on other win versions where an app has a hidden window that leaves a ghost framed area when closing. I’ve also seen where an app (browser?) leaves a narrow full-screen red-framed rectangle on the screen that overlays...
  8. A Notepad++ replacement, With a tree? structure

    AS already mentioned, that's because npp is a PLAIN TEXT editor NOT an image editor or viewer. I'm still not sure why you need a tree structure INSIDE an editor when you have that provided by Windows. That said, if you want to build a "tree" inside a document that contains embedded images such...
  9. End of support for Privacy protection (VPN) in Microsoft Defender February 28, 2025

    Me neither... <shrug> Guess I'm not going to miss it.. :) But it would be nice if Malwarebytes quit telling me I'm not protect when I'm not using THEIR VPN. I am using VPN, just not theirs!
  10. A Notepad++ replacement, With a tree? structure

    Curious as to why? Npp "file open" give you exactly that, but the Windows version. When it's provided by the OS, why build one into an app? Have you looked in to there being a npp plugin? If not, maybe write one?
  11. Problem installing update (KB5050009)

    I was reading the X-Lite Optimum thread where it was stated that KB5050009 had also failed to install. A post stated they d/l'd and installed the "NET 9. 0 & .NET 8.0.12 Plus the run times" which resolved the issue. https://www.elevenforum.com/t/new-x-lite-optimum-is-out.29995/post-550797
  12. Moving from Windows 10 to Windows 11

    Agree, but MS doesn't tell you that it MIGHT be holding up one's 24H2 upgrade.. I found out DURING the manual upgrade I did.. Easy fix, but there was NO notification and it would have been nice to know in advance.
  13. Moving from Windows 10 to Windows 11

    FWIW - I wondered why I did NOT get the 24H2 upgrade notification in WindowsUpdate even tho my PC was "24H2 ready", so I downloaded the ISO to do an in-place upgrade. During that upgrade - which went fine - I was told I needed to update the firmware on one of my installed NVME drives. First I...
  14. Solved Do I have to setup a virtual network when I create a virtual machine?

    MY understanding is that cannot happen unless you install the VM's network interfaces/drivers.
  15. New X-Lite Optimum is out!

    As I found out when trying after installing onto a VB virtual machine. That install under VB worked fine.. however Hyper-V does not like the ISO and refuses to activate mouse/keyboard so I can't install - no interaction. So.. I tried to install it onto a separate drive and make my system dual...
