Private Network - the local machine is not listed/visible in File Explorer under "Network".
All other machines in the same Workgroup are visible and listed but not the local machine.
If I manually restart the "Function Discovery Resource Publication" service (FdResPub) the local machine immediately pops up
but only stays visible for the current File Explorer session ...

Of course it does NOT work, and I can not see how these settings would make any difference to the issue.

This has been an issue since always. ISTR it has something to do with the way Windows nominates the "master browser" for networking. Try typing the name of the local computer as "\\name" into the address bar to view the shares; it works for me.

"Master Browser" is only used with deprecated SMB 1.0 and is definitely not the issue here. As I stated, all machines are visible except the machine which I open File Explorer on to browse, this goes for each and all in the same workgroup. Local machine becomes visible also if I manually restart the publication service. All W11-24H2 machines are visible in Windows Server 2016 File Explorer including the Server itself.

Whatever the reason, I've had this problem going back to Windows 10 and before, and it has continued throughout my use of Windows 11. File Explorer's Network is either slow to populate, missing remote computers, missing the host computer, etc. It's never worked right for me. Normally, entering the "\\name" of the computer I want to view works.

Whatever your issue is not my issue, you are referring to SMB v1.0 functionality which I do not use, nor do I have any problem seeing all of my W11 24H2 machines, except any one I use to browse the Network, also Windows Server 2016 has no issue at all (talking of Windows 10), and that without Master Browser and long disabled SMB 1.0. This is new to 24H2, I had no such issue with W11 23H2

Dude, I disabled SMB 1.0 years ago, and that includes the Windows 10 machine I use for my file server.

ETA: OK, I remember now after reviewing this article:

I enabled the mentioned services when I disabled SMB 1.0 in Windows 10, and they're still enabled and running. The feature remained flaky as hell, and I gave up on it ever working right, especially since the network otherwise works. Whatever your issue is, good luck sorting it out. If you find a solution, please do post it.

Good for you Dude, however you are far from contributing anything helpful towards resolving the originally flagged issue.

Sorry I'm unable to solve your problem. You may have replied before you saw the edit to my post, where I expanded on my experience with this Explorer feature, wished you well, and asked that you post a solution if you find it. Whatever my issue is, it is not related to SMB 1.0, and if you do find a solution to your issue, it would be something for me to look into.

Apart from manually restarting the "FdResPub" service while File Explorer is open I found that changing/toggling "Private" to "Public" to "Private" Network (Firewall and related) setting while File Explorer is one also makes visible the local machine immediately, for the current session.
