24H2 and BSOD

I have a 2023 ASUS laptop that works reliably for a year until I upgraded it to 24H2. The update showed up on Windows Update. As soon as I did the update, I immediately ran into BSOD and laptop device not found (e.g., camera) problems. After trying a few tricks but to no success, I used a 23H2 USB stick to reinstall Windows 11 23H2. The laptop worked fine for a few days.

But the 24H2 update showed up again today. I paused the update for 7 days. But it will do the update in 7 days.

I did google search and found 2TB WD SSD has problems with 24H2 and WD came up with a fix. SanDisk SSDs, Memory Cards, and Flash Drives for Your Digital Life | SanDisk

However my WD SSD is only 1TB. What can I do from here on? Thanks.

Some ASUS devices may not complete the installation: ASUS X415KA and X515KA models may experience a blue screen (BSOD) issue during the installation of Windows 11 version 24H2. This is due to incompatibility with some hardware components on these devices. A compatibility lock has been set for such devices to prevent the update from installing automatically. It is recommended that you do not attempt to update these devices manually via Media Creation Tool or Windows Installation Assistant until the problem is resolved.

I have a WD SN770 250GB and everything is fine.

Mine is ASUS GU604VI. As I stated, the update up showed up in Windows Update. I understand that it is risky to do the update via Media Creation Tool or Windows Installation Assistant. It is not the case here.

I updated my Asus Vivobook laptop from 23H2 to 24H2 earlier this week using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant and it completed without a single issue and the laptop is running fine. I completed a full system image backup and ran Microsoft PC Health Check App first before proceeding.

I also ran Microsoft PC Health Check App and it looks fine. It is a 2023 ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 laptop with i9-13900H CPU. It should be considered modern....

There are multiple reports from users via the Feedback Hub App that there are models of Asus laptops in addition to the ones already identified by Asus & Microsoft that are having similar issues to yours.

It is bit of lottery that some Asus users like me have had no issues at all upgrading to 24H2 while others do. My hunch is that in light of the numerous changes to driver models and frameworks in the backend of 24H2 that a lot of the issues are naturally driver related.
