I expect that scalpers will get most of the cards available initially. I wonder what that'll do to the $2kUS MSRP of the 5090? I presume there are many well-heeled gamers out there, so there will be no scarcity of buyers, regardless.

I have no use for most of the Halo GPUs. But then again I'm not a gamer nor video creator. I do have a 9800X3D on order at MSRP. That will more than likely go to my son, who is the gamer.

I like the fact that the 5090 is smaller than the 4090. At least the FE model.

I'm currently rocking a 3080 that isn't causing my any concerns, so my next update most likely won't be until the 6000 or 7000 series. I cannot justify $1k+ for an upgrade from a 3080 to a 5080 at this time. And $2k+ for a 5090 to be is just bonkers. The vast majority of computer I have built for myself over the years have cost less than $2000 complete.

Not joking, I've been saving for a new PC build. I'm not ready for a new GPU yet but a 5090 is on the shopping list
Just waiting for my MSI X870E Godlike to be in stock at Scan. Yep the £1200 motherboard.

Can't get a new GPU until I get a new PSU, also on the shopping list

I've got an AMD Sapphire RX 7900 XTX and according to Techpowerup's testing the 5080 is only 10-12% faster. Not worth upgrading for that. I don't upgrade CPU's or GPU's unless the improvement is circa 20%+

I'm more interested in the GPU computing benchmarks. (I don't game.) I can't explain the discrepancies from gaming performance.

I was impressed by the control panel for the last AMD card I owned (6900 XT). Superior to nVidia's.
