For me, it is quicker to PrintScreen, then crop the image in MS Paint .

Win+Shift+S needs some manual dexterity. It was slower here and generated a redundant notification (maybe I can suppress that?).

I also just use the PrtSc key and then paste the screenshot in an image editor and crop to whatever I choose.

I also use PrntScr to open the Snipping Tool. I then use the popout on the bottom right to work with the image and save it. if you find that PrntScr doesn't bring up the Snipping Tool, you need to enable it. " Settings \ Accessibility \ Keyboard"

Years ago, I was having a problem with a screen capture program. My personal Guru was visiting me, and he put me on to a free program from France, called "Photo Filtre". He called it the Poor Man's Photo Shop. Since then, many years ago now, that's the only program I've used for all my screen captures, photo editing, and processing.
As mentioned, the "Prt Scrn" key on the upper right of the keyboard will take a snapshot of the screen and send it to the "Clipboard".
From there I can "Paste as new image" into Photo Filtre. Then I can crop the image, to save just an item from the screen. I can then resize that image, add or subtract color or contrast, or just about anything I want to. I can even add text to the image if I want. Finally I can save the image anywhere I like or even print it.

Screen capture programs were a big thing, years ago, but today, they just are not needed.

I have tried several screen capture programs including the built-in Snipping Tool. I settled on Greenshot because I like the way it works. I switch between full screen, window, and region capture depending upon the situation.

Instead of blindly taken a strangers recommendation it is better if someone tries several programs and then decide for themselves.

Personally a user of Greenshot (Greenshot)

It is awesome for me. I've got the key functionality to PrtSc, and it allows you to select a region, include the cursor, add annotations in the built in editor, and directly upload to Imgur, copy to clipboard, choose a save location or directly save. Here's an example!

Since I create tutorials for my students, I use Screenpresso Free. It does what I need and I can use arrows, boxes, etc. to point out what they need to do.
