Many years ago, (DOS days) a computer operator would have to type several DOS commands in at a command prompt, to run just one program. If they had a lot of different programs to run, that could get pretty old, pretty quick.
I'd help out my customers and friends, by writing a little batch file menu for them, so they could run any program by just typing in one number and hitting ENTER.
That menu would come up on their screen when they first booted up their PC.
I created a DOS Utilities disk for myself, and I made an Ansi Color DOS menu for that disk.

Just like a Menu in a restaurant, it just tells you what you can get, when you've made your selection. Today, they call that "Order by Number".
Today, that menu has been replaced by Icons on my Desktop. That's kind of what Windows was created for. Enter the GUI!
So, to run your programs, just make a shortcut to each one and put those shortcuts on your desktop, or in a folder on your desktop. I keep shortcuts to all the forums I work, in one folder on my desktop, labeled simply, "Forums".
Trying to create a batch file to do what Windows is designed to do, would be counter productive. Maybe rethink that?
