Adobe Reader Delay

I noticed that when using Adobe Reader there is a delay after I close a file and being able to load a new PDF file. Anyone else have this problem?

I replaced it with what I think is the older version: AcroRdrDC2400320112_en_US and no delays.

Yeah, the older version works great.

I downloaded the older version and it's still take 30 - 45 seconds to open a PDF, which I do ALL day long.
I use Cute PDF Pro as well and it opens immediately so I'm using that for now. But this user is definitely going to want Adobe Reader back.

could use help here.

Please insure you're running the latest version of Adobe Reader. Also Make damn sure to untick the McAfee box (ticked by default) if you DO NOT want McAfee's AV installed. This box is ticked be default so when you install Reader, you're ALSO installing McAfee. Untick if you don't want!!!

Perhaps this wasn't done, and why you see a slowdown. Check the McAfee didn't install (if you don't want it).

For me, I'm running Acrobat Pro 2020 (full non-subscription edition) and have zero issues as described above. And no, and no McAfee installed.

This is an older thread, but if you still have this problem, it's security setting.

Unfortunately, we have to choose between security and fast opening .. or choose another pdf reader

Yes, I d/l'd the latest version and unchecked Mcafee and Chrome.
The older version seems a LITTLE better but it's still slow. The pdf I opened with the older version was quick. Not immediate but quick. I said 'hey watch this' and clicked another file and it took 30+ seconds

Why though? I have AR on my laptop and have that checked and it opens just fine.

This is on another computer in the office. Arguably better PC. Both fully updated with 11home

also, it doesn't matter if AR is open. PDFs still open slowly

My AR was working fine until the upgrade to 24H2, then I had to untick that box to avoid a 30 second delay in opening PDFs.

Don't know why.

Well, I installed several new and old versions of Adobe Acrobat but they all operate the same via Edge. Guess they don't care if we use Adobe or not. It works okay within Edge so I'll use it and/or Foxit when I want it simple. I cannot find the settings for Adobe so it just does its thing and that's it.

Yup. Scan, scan, scan. I never open a PDF without scanning it, even with that protection box ticked. Too easy to get malware from them.

Apparently this is a problem with 24H2 and FIleopen which is a document management system (security) DRM. OR people with Fileopen have noticed the problem and it's all DRM applications. I've never heard of Fileopen and i'm pretty familiar with the other PC so.....
The 'other' computer runs ProSeries and Sharevault which use PDFs heavily so it's probably something in there.

Adobe has been diligently working on it since October. :-)
Using cute pdf for now.
