Amazon scamming customers again!

Available on Amazon UK website right now, all from no-name Chinese sellers. Look at those prices! Wonder why some of the CPU info is blanked out on the pics
All different sellers with (near) identical descriptions...

So all these say “sold by Amazon”?
If not, Amazon isn’t scamming anyone, are they?. Maybe these products haven’t been reported enough?

This means Amazon will supply the item(s)( from their own wharehouse - not by some third-party supplier.

That’s my understanding, yes. I can’t see them selling fake products knowingly from their warehouse, I can’t even see them getting sucked in to doing so by a seller. This is why I asked if the product pages state “sold by Amazon”
Even if so, products like these need to be reported and probably don’t get flagged until a quota of reports are received. Seems the way of the world now, unfortunately.

Amazon is full of garbage...rarely can you find real known reliable brands. Mostly only China fake.

IMO, by letting scammers into their store front, they are also responsible for the scamming.

My understanding is that Amazon mixes their stock of items with third-party stock of the same kind in their warehouses. So you don't necessarily know what you are getting. But you get easy returns.

This is why I try to stay away from Amazon for computer components although I recently bought some RAM from them as they were the only ones to have RAM from the Asus QVL for my build. Newegg sold and shipped I'll buy, but first on my list is the local Microcenter even though it's an hour drive from my home and usually longer now with highway construction. I especially want to buy the motherboard, CPU, and power supply from Microcenter as if there is anything wrong simply take it back, albeit knowing it could be a good 3 hours out of the day. Still better than the RMA process though.

Absolutely agree and here in the UK, a contract of purchase is with the retailer NOT the supplier, so it's Amazon taking the payment for the products.

My bet would be the phrase, "Get it ... Jan 11-17" posted today means it's coming to the UK from China.

Yes it would appear so, but it's Amazon taking the payment so it's their responsibility to ensure customers aren't being scammed

Well, they WILL take it back, and "Not as advertised" is a good reason (i.e., acceptable to Amazon, so you don't have to pay for shipping back) for a return. Maybe if enough people return these, Amazon will get the message.

Hopefully Amazon buyers aren't stupid enough to pay well over the RRP for these CPUs, which may not even be the ones in the pictures. I'd be VERY dubious about buying a CPU that has some of it's info blanked out!

I'll leave this here now. I just wish Amazon would properly vet their 3rd-party sellers, it does come across that they really don't care if customers are being scammed.

Well I am sorry to read that it would appear there are people who have been affected by sellers on Amazon. I can only conclude that Amazon in Australia is run very differently to the UK or America?
I get next day delivery, free, and most things I buy are sold from Amazon Australia, if it’s an import it states so. Rarely am I patient enough to wait, but I am always smart enough to thoroughly check my purchase, like Brian obviously does to find the examples above.
We have major brands that sell through Amazon and if not the items/brands that I want are sold through reputable Australian physical stores that use Amazon as a storefront to diversify. I have to mention, to date, I haven’t been stupid enough, or unlucky enough to get scammed. I would be embarrassed to disclose how much I have spent on Amazon shopping in the past 12 months (Not everything I buy goes into the thread in this Forum) But I have not ever been scammed and any purchase that didn’t operate as expected for one reason or another has either been quickly refunded, sometimes without returning the original, or a replacement sent within a few days.

Blaming Amazon for having someone clever enough to get past the vetting by Amazon, is like blaming John for someone posting bad advice or compromising links, of which he quickly acts on after it being reported. It takes members reporting things for things to be dealt with. If you see something that isn’t right, report it. Apathy doesn’t help anyone.

I was an eBay member for 20 years, if you want to talk scam, there’s a good subject. Although a totally different selling model. I quit them last year.

It’s Christmas Day morning here. If you celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas, if you don’t Happy Holiday to you. I hope you’ll are lucky enough to have not been scammed by Amazon when buying Christmas presents this year. And if you hate Amazon so much, that you are fortunate enough to not receive Amazon Gift Cards for Christmas

Amazon has went down hill in the past year. Customer service is not what it use to be. I only buy things that say shipped and sold by Amazon. If it is shipped by another vendor Amazon will not help you if you have a problem.

For sure Amazon is no longer operating the way it was when Bezos was running it, but it's still head and shoulders above most other Internet selling sites.
Like anything internet connected, some of the responsibility of purchases lies with the buyer to do due diligence before the purchase... Compare prices, check specifications, read the feedback, use Fakespot to check validity of feedback, ask questions

Sounds like a lot of people don't know how to use amazon/the internet LOL. May as well blame the lord of interwebs for these things too then.
