Some of you may remember I bought a laptop last year that had an optane ssd and had a few troubles trying to upgrade the ssd - which were solved by a clean install - but the new ssd drive never did show up in bios.
Have recently bought a used HP Spectre X360 13 10th generation - I've been on the lookout for one. It was factory reset but noticed there was an Intel Optane app installed as part of the factory reset. Again no drive showing in bios and again I wish to change the drive. The Optane App however says no active disk. Obviously I'm contacting the seller to see if they know if it ever had an optane drive and it's been replaced (it would suggest it has by the app being there). Or whether it has always had the same drive. But they may not know. The one installed is a KXG60ZNV512G KIOXA. All the HP docs say about this model is it has a 512gb ssd - nothing more.
Just want to know if my system image will restore on another drive! I guess if it doesn't then I can just do a clean install again but was trying to avoid that as it's a pain getting some of the thermal management apps back again.
But the query really is - why isn't any drive showing in bios anywhere?! Is it because it was previously an optane drive so not recognised (but works) - which is what happened with the previous laptop?
