Are the Insider previews known to corrupt interface elements?

Hi all.

I'm not sure if the following is an Insider's Preview result or a fluke that started at about the same time I installed the Preview.
Any suggestions for workarounds are welcome.

After a few updates I'm now at 27729.1000.

The problem I referred to, is the inability to set the Advanced Sharing options and make them stick. They revert to 'unset' after I leave that panel and then go back to it, or they have no effect if I keep that panel open and work in parallel in something else. Certainly it doesn't behave like the option setting is a toggle switch (which is not supposed to be anyway).

Then, after comparing with my laptop (Win 10), I realized what the problem was.
The Win 11 computer was missing the 'Save' button. Anything I did there, wasn't saved because there was no 'save' button to click on.

How on earth could an interface element disappear from a panel if its functionality never changed? Do they play with the code on every release?

Anyway, this is the problem (for now :) ). If you know of any way around it, please post.
I'm attaching a screen capture of that panel.

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

You're a few versions behind. The Insider Canary channel is now on 27749.1000.

Control Panel has 'save' buttons, Settings does not. Changes made in Settings get applied immediately. In Win 10 these settings were in Control Panel, now they've been moved to the Settings app. Mine work as intended and stay as I set them.

Do they play with the code on every release?

Yes. That is the whole purpose of the Canary channel releases.

Microsoft said:
The builds we release to the Canary Channel represent the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows and features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

No 'Save' in Win 11 eh? I didn't expect that.

Now I have to find out what is it that blocks them from being set up and good luck with that :(.
Either something missing in the registry and/or Group Policy I'd guess (but I already proved that I can make the wrong assumptios... :-)).

Much appreciated for the explanations and the helping hands.
I'll post the reason when I find it.
