Like most browser fairy tales, I have no way of knowing if Global Privacy Control has any merit.
But I just performed the about:config edit on Firefox, and will see how it goes.

For an initial test, I checked quite a few of my Youtube bookmarks.
I don't see any ads at the start of the videos, anymore.
I have NO extensions at all in Firefox. Just my FF appearance tweaks.
On Youtube "searches" I only got one ad, and that was on: "Snoopy v.s. the Red Baron"
