Windows 11 Pro 24H2 Build 26100.2605
Up until now I've had no problems with W11 that I could not fix, but suddenly one has come up for which cannot find a solution.
I have three monitors with No 3 being my main display and the desktop extended to the other two.
A few days ago I noticed that some icons were missing from the desktop on my main monitor and were displayed on monitor 2.
I moved those back to the main monitor, turned off Auto arrange and Align to Grid, and clicked Refresh.
Next day when I booted up the icons had drifted once again.
I tried disconnecting monitor 2 but the same thing happened.

I'd be grateful for any info.

I don't know why Windows moves icons on the desktop. It happens to me when I change the resolutions on my monitors. I use this program to save and restore my desktop icon locations. ReIcon v2.0 (Restore Desktop Icon Layouts)

Thank you.
I have Display Fusion installed so I can easily rectify the problem.
I'd just like to know what causes it and how to stop it.

The problem has disappeared as suddenly as it appeared.
Oh the wonder of Windows!
