Backing up a usb

I use a USB stick for all my important files.
I would like to backup these files.
I understand that I can't use backup and restore on my laptop, due to security issues.
I assume i can insert another USB in the laptop and take a copy.

The question is there a way to store the differences that have taken place on the original usb so that I could generate a up to date copy.

I suppose the alternative is to take copies at regular intervals?

I would copy paste all the files every time. File Explorer will warn there are several files with the same names and give you some choices. Select the last option to decide each file if to keep the original or copy the file from source. Of course you are not going to check all files one by one! There is an option to automatically skip all files with the same name, same size and same date (thus without changes). Check the box to skip these and copy the rest files. You will be asked to decide only for files with the same name but different sizes or date (thus modified).

Macrium Reflect can back USB drives too in all 3 modes.

there is also freefilesync that will mirror/copy and update that copy.

Syncbackfree allows you to back up in native format to an alternative source, with backup options of Backup, Syncronize and/or Mirror
