Better photo viewer available somewhere?

Are there any multiple document interface photo viewers out there somewhere?

I was able to keep using the old Microsoft Photo Editor right up until 22H2, and I really really really (have I said really?) need that sort of photo viewer for some of the work I do. The Photos app can do MDI, but not from a thumb drive - it wants me to add the photo to my Pictures folder first, which I don't want to do.

I've tried a few others, but none are MDI. Is that a thing of the past for some reason? If anyone knows of any software like that, please please please (did I say please?) share!

I recently installed Microsoft Photo Editor and works good, same Windows Version and Build as yours. I have had success in the past with GIMP and IrFanView as well as Paint.

I use this....
Imageglass Photo Viewer
Completely free(ad-free also) and works awesome. Got this recommendation from another thread on this site and from a user named Edwin. I love it.

Those who mention Irfanview.... if it can do what MS Photo Editor can do, I'd like to know how to make it do it.

ImageGlass doesn't appear to do it, either.

What do you mean "do" ?? As in view MDI files or create MDI files ?

Note that the M in MDI stands for "Microsoft" and quite often proprietary locked format files are not compatible with non-proprietary software. You may need additional intervening software to convert them to, say, more generic/general formats like pdf or tiff

EDIT : Appears your best bet would be an older version (<2007) of MS Office.

I think the OP simply wants an image viewer/editor that will load multiple images for editing..., and has to be able access images from a thumb drive.

Ah. Maybe the "MDI" reference has nothing to do with the image format, just lower case general "multiple" images.

If so, then certainly Irfanview, with the accompanying Thumbnail viewer.

@cbiweb Bit more detail might help.

Unfortunately no. I guess if one has never used MS Photo Editor, they can't know what I mean.

I used Photo Editor (always thought it sucked honestly)... I'm still not sure what you mean...

This is what can be done in Photo Editor. I had to use browser windows to make this example. Photo Editor allows the same thing with photos/images. You can move them around, resize, etc. Photo Editor has its limitations, but it's useful for some of the stuff I do.
