    The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

Bill was small millionaire until IBM came looking for a PC-based OS. IBM really wanted to license Digital Research's CP/M, but for whatever the true story was, didn't. Instead Bill promised them a CP/M clone, purchased someone else's pre-made OS, updated it and relicensed it back to IBM.

The smart trick was it a non-exclusive agreement, allowing him to sell "DOS" to other PC companies that appeared after IBM. Which made him a big billionaire in the long run. Otherwise MS would be this medium software company peddling BASIC and a terrible spreadsheet...
