Hi

Ive just built a new PC, got W11 up an running on it, all my hardware drivers in place and Win updates. Im angling towards creating my first image as my 'fresh install' base point, but wanted to check on a few security things:

1. I went through the 'Clean install' tutorial and created a local account. I presume this is an admin account. Is it still advised not to be using the Admin account on a D2D basis and instead create a user account for D2D which doesnt have admin privileges?
2. Ive been using Malwarebytes on my W10 account since I built it (another PC). Seems like its still recommended here?
3. Aside from Malware Bytes Im also using Superantispyware. That still considered OK or any other reco

1. Yes it's an admin account and what you should use day to day. The hidden MS administrator is a totally different account and meant for troubleshooting only.

2. I'm assuming you are referring to MWB Premium. Yes many of us here use MWB Premium alongside Defender in realtime.

3. I never have and would not recommend using MWB and Superantispyware alongside each other in realtime. If I wanted a third checker, I would install the free verson of Superantispyware and run it on demand manually. JMO.

Thanks. Was only checking as advice given to me on Tenforums at the time (5 or more years ago) was never to D2D use an admin account as it prevented malicious software having raised privileges. So it's OK to use the admin account which W11Pro creates from the start as your daily driver account.
3. I never have and would not recommend using MWB and Superantispyware alongside each other in realtime. If I wanted a third checker, I would install the free verson of Superantispyware and run it on demand manually. JMO.
Sorry, I didn't mean in real time. Yes MWB pro is what I have across my old and my wife's machines running live. I run SAS whenever I remember to as a mop up check.

Thanks for your advice.

Well, you're going to limit youself if you don't at least have an administrative account available, but if you feel that concerned about malicious software, use a standard account DTD if you wish. As for as any software I download, I scan it with MWB before installing it if I have any concern about it.

I've always been of a belief that the most valuable protection one has against malicious software is himself and how much common sense he uses.
Never open files obtained from off the wall sites, only from the site of the developer of that software or other reputable sources. That includes files or links from friends.

Always pay attention and READ when installing anything and decline any add-on software that is offered during the installation. Don't do like some people and click, click, click through it. When you do web searches pay attention to the https in the search results. Those search results tend to put questionable sites as the top of search results list. Why? Because they're being paid to do it.
Even if a user has malwarebytes Free , anything one downloads can be scanned.

And one of the biggest threats going on right now, that's links and ads in Facebook, maybe other social networking sites as well, but I know FB lets anyone put a link to anywhere as long as they pay FB . Somethimes is simple adware, sometimes it is much worse. I've seen so many cases of it that I completely got away from FB.
