Can I install the RTX 3060 of my Acer Nitro 5 in my Asus FX503VD?
Hey there gamers
,
My motherboard died of my Nitro 5..
So I was wondering If I could install my RTX 3060 in my older Asus FX503VD.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Teun

Of course you can connect your graphics card to your older computer, but you must check if the PSU is powerful enough and provides the PCIe connector for the extra power. Also I don't know if the card will run at its full potential or a little slower because of the older and slower hardware. At least it will have better performance than your previous graphics card.

Confused....
You are talking about taking the graphics chip out of your Acer Nitro 5 Notebook and put it in an older Asus FX503VD Notebook ?
You realize these chips are soldered into the motherboard. correct? Do you have the tools needed to do that?

Oops! My bad, I didn't check what these models were. I thought we were talking about desktop computers. However, you might actually CAN do that if both laptops have discreet graphics cards that can be removed and IF they are of the same type of connection.
PS: Just checked, the Asus FX503VD has an nVidia 1050 which should be removable and the Acer Nitro 5 has nVidia 1650 which is removable as well. I am not sure thought if the connection is the same. Just remove the card from one laptop and see if it can be connected on the other. If it does, it should be compatible.

The GPUs might be swappable if both machines had discrete ones as
MXMs .
I'm not certain, but a quick glance at the motherboard for the Asus FX503VD suggest that it does not.

Unfortunately I am not familiar with discrete laptop graphics cards. I always owned entry or mid-range laptops with onboard graphics. I could not afford the high-end ones. However it's worth checking if the cards are indeed swappable.

Yes, all of the notebooks I've worked on are older, more pedestrian models. So I have not yet seen a MXM chip in the wild.
Sounds fun though.
