Can website favicons have viruses?
I'm asking this, because Mozilla wants to plan to implement a new feature: Favicons import from IE/Safari/Opera/Chrome, and I have fear of this new feature.
In short, can favicon virus that won't attack the Chrome, but it attack the Firefox be transferred through this new favicon import feature?
Is this risk, if the Mozilla implement this feature?
I have inspiration for this post from:

Any flaw in a system can be leveraged to deliver malware. This does not mean the icons themselves are malware. Just that if a flaw is discovered in say how an icon is rendered someone could potentially find a way to craft an image file to do something unexpected such as download malware.
I don't understand why the favicon for a Web site would need to be imported, the Web address or URL would be what is needed. The favicon usually is just a small image that shows on the tab when open in Firefox, mine is. I haven't used it in some time but there used to be programs that can import/capture the icons.

So that it can be displayed in your bookmarks/favorites after you leave the site.
The fav icon code usually looks like this:
HTML:
<link rel="icon" type="image/x-icon" href="/images/favicon.ico">
If you don't have this imported or you have deleted or transfered favorites, it would look like this:

I have the favicons on the Bookmarks in Firefox I've saved.
Irrelevent.
I guarantee that all those icons are cached on your machine. That is what cache is there for.
Try transferring those favorites to another browser and you will lose all of them - the links would still function however-
