VideoCardz:
Last month, reports suggested that HDMI version 2.2 might be on the horizon. This was based on press releases sent by the HDMI Licensing Administrator (HDMI LA) to attendees of the CES 2025 conference. We now have a full invitation confirming that new specifications are indeed coming and that the version will be called 2.2.
The email explicitly confirms the existence of a new HDMI version with "new specifications" and "higher bandwidth." Unfortunately, it does not provide any details about the specifications or indicate whether it will be supported by next-generation GPUs. These details will be confirmed at CES 2025, exactly on January 6 at 10:00 AM, just hours before the first keynote featuring AMD's new Radeon GPUs.
In the "About HDMI Licensing Administrator" section, the email clearly states that it discusses "license Version 2.2 of HDMI Specifications." This confirms that the 2.2 standard is not speculation but has been verified by HDMI LA themselves.
