win10 64 bit 20h2 ver. now it is 22h2

ok i have 4 laptops. for the most part i use just 2. but on this one i'm typing with now i have an issue with the chrome browser that every now and then a tab goes offline and has aw snap and tells me to reload or reboot. none of the other laptops do this ever. i did all the online suggestions for trying to fix this. i believe i have all the updates for win11 and i even do run updates after i get this issue and i still get it. so if no one seems to have any fixes i may just do a complete reinstall of win10 and then let this pc run itself into win11. i have ran crystal disk and mem checkers and those come back fine and i also did the bios default and saved it. and i did a hp bios update and also uninstalled chrome a few times and reloaded it. i did not delete my data as then my other pcs have to also be reset. but i did do a week back reset of the chrome data and that failed.

so is this just this pc or might this be some issue that i'm lucky enough to have found

in a powershell as Admin please run one after the other.

first
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

then
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

finally
sfc /scannow

restart the system.
best of luck, Steve ..

running them now have the first one done and the 2nd is running then the last soon and then see if that helps it may take some time as that seems to happen 1 or 2 times a day sometimes a bit more.

Sounds like a memory leak within Chrome.
Open Chrome's Task Manager (Shift/Esc), see if there's excessive memory usage.

Do you have tons of tabs open?
Lot's of extensions? Outdated Extensions?
Is Chrome up to date?
Do you have Page Preloading enabled?

Is the problem only with Chrome or with anything else that needs Internet access?

this issue is the tabs in chrome. i will have some tabs open and all of a sudden the tab i happen to be on will go offline and say aw snap and tell me to reload. some times they will reload fine and sometimes i get another message that tells me to reboot the pc. it has not done it yet today. but then i have not been on it much. now i'm on another pc. the pc i'm using now has never done that. i'm kind of wondering if it is the sd drive? i had a house fire and those pcs gut smoke and some water damage so i got replacements off ebay and put that sd into the replacement and then i started getting at message. if it keeps doing it i may just reinstall win10 and let the pc work win11 into it. thanks

Chrome does not usually say offline on it's own unless you were trying to browse that tab while it is offline. The rebooting the PC part is weird when reloading a page.

In Settings, Privacy and security, security which is at chrome://settings/security in the Advanced section, are you using Secure DNS and which provider is listed if you are as it could be the settings in Chrome as there are somethings that are set in Chrome and not system wide. If it happened with all apps and your internet does not work at the same time Chrome doesn't on the same computer, then it woulld be a system wide issue with that machine alone as Killer Atheros WiFi cards are known to cause a sync no surf issue.

my setting are or seem to be good. when i get the aw snap is is while i'm using the tab and online. i may have a few tabs open and the others seem to be ok, but i have had all the tabs do it a times.

my internet modem is set to very secure and my chrome is set to very secure. like i say it is only be this pc that i'm now on. today so far it has not done it. yesterday i got another bios from hp and another firmware and let hp install tham and so far today i have not had the issue, but i will not call it fixed until i have went maybe a week without any issues.

Yes, hard to really tell unless you are trying to figure it out while it is happening. Although search says you can fix the problem simply by clearing cache and cookies as something could have gotten corrupted.

yes i did a search also for that issue and that is what it said may be one possible fix. so i did back a week and that did not help.but what is strange is if it was cache and cookies then why do the other pcs get past it without issues. it is a strange one for sure. so with the firmware and bios update we will see if that helped. thanks
