Hi folks
sometimes when cloning a Real Linux system especially with systemd rather than grub as boot manager you can get a problem at boot with the root partition can't be found (message usually something like device by disk UUID --waiting for partition GUUID nr.). I like to create a system on one machine and then clone it to 2 or 3 others -- the only other change needed is to change the hostname if running these machines concurrently. Windows VMs created on these don't need to be touched at all.
Take a note of the number, then boot any install disk / iso and type gdisk /dev/<your root partition)
then select GPT, use option x for expert, select your root partition, then option for new partition UUID, enter the number you copied, write, exit and then reboot.
No need to mess around with bootloaders etc. This type of command is useful if you've cloned from one machine to an external drive and then cloned that drive to a new machine.
Note - you can also change Windows partitions guuids with this method.
cheers
