I manage the village weather station - a Davies instrument which has internal (in the house) and external (garden) components which communicate by WiFi (I assume) and stores weather data and a dedicated program (Weatherlink) periodically downloads it to my PC for uploading to the village web site.
I used to have a very old laptop running in an outdoor weather proof box uploading data direct to web site but the laptop has now died so now I have to manually download data from the interior Davies module to my PC.
The location of the interior module is too far for the USB cable that is used, and although that could be boosted, it's not practical to lay a USB cable from internal module to my PC location. I have to periodically move the module from one side of the house to the other. It can't permanently reside by the PC as it is then too far from the external components and losses wireless contact.
One way round this (if possible) is the feed module USB output to a black box which sends data by WiFi to a black box by my PC which converts it back to USB. It would have to be two way as the App controls the frequency of the data downloads and obviously, the Davies module controls the data output.
Any suggestions re the "black box"?
