I got interested in this when I was deciding which DDR5 ram to buy for my soon to be built i9 13900k based system.

I ended up buying some 5600 MT/s Corsair ram. I came to the conclusion it wasn't worth spending extra money on say 7000 DDR5 memory.
I did find some interesting tests of DDR5 memory which are food for thought.

DDR5 is not on the horizon for me. Per my specifications my cpu supports 2933 ddr4 ram and this is the last computer I will every buy. If it goes before I do, I'll take it as a sign I no longer need a computer. It would be interesting, though, to be able to live in the next generation to see all the changes that will come.

I did the semi-cowardly thing, and bought the fastest RAM that was in the QVL (qualified vendors list) for my motherboard/CPU combination.

Probably a waste of funds. As you noted, the higher frequency may not manifest outside of pure memory benchmarks.

A warning, for those considering high-performance RAM: Intel officially supports a maximum of 5600MHz on Gen13 CPUs. Anything above that is considered overclocking, which may void the warranty. (Personal experience: I had a warranty claim denied on a Gen12 CPU due to running DDR5 5200. The CPU officially supported a maximum frequency of 4800MHz.) Buying 5600MHz DDR5 for use with a Gen13 CPU is playing it safe.

These are good points, which are why I went with 5600 MT/s ram. Also, where I live 6400\7000\7200 MT/s DDR5 ram is expensive.
