Windows 11
Hi.
New installed Windows 11. When I try to mount a .ISO file, it takes forever. Recording to taskmanager, it is a program called smartscreen.exe (C:\windows\system32\smartscreen.exe) that does this. I don't think it is very "smart" to lock my PC completely (not even CTRL-ALT-DELETE works while smartscreen.exe is working). I use BitDefender, so I don't use or need Windows Defender's tools.

How do I stop this "Smartscreen" from interfere with my windows??

Smartscreen for a few things. Maybe this one is causing you issues?

If not that, search “Smartscreen” in tutorials.

Hmmm, I did see that "Smart App" thing, but I was not sure, that it was the same ting, as the Smartscreen.exe also has smartscreen.dll and smartscreenps.dll connected to it. I really don't get, why "Smartscreen" has to lock my PC completely from imputs while it works on a .ISO file. Taskmanager is updated on the monitor, but no inputs works. My "test"-iso is only 13Gbyte, and my PC is locked for about 12 minutes for this.
Smart Apps sounds like a good idea to me, but not if it is this that also makes the use of .iso's impossible.
I'll try and turn it off to see what happens. Acronis can get my Windows up and running again very fast.

No, it is not "Smart App" that does it. Disabled Smart App (knowing, I can only get it back with a clean install of Windows 11), and the issue was still there. I then tried to swith off all "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices", the issue was gone! With .ISO that is. If it comes back again in other conditions, I still don't know. But Thank you for pointing me in the right direction 😊

I disable everything related to Windows Defender including Smart Priority and Memory Integrity.

Even after doing that and completely disabling Windows Defender using ToggleDefender which works like a charm, the smarscreen.exe always runs even though I have disabled everything related to smartscreen in Group Policy Editor. The way to stop it is to take ownership of the file located in C:\Windows\system32 then grant the everyone group full control, then rename it to smartscreen.back
