Deleting a G-Mail Account

We have 2 g-mail accounts. How do I delete just one of them without deleting the entire Google account? (All the info on the web deletes the entire Google account. We just want to delete one e-mail account....Thanks

Backup before you try this. Open the account you want to delete. Select the 3 horizontal bars [upper right] . Expand your account >, then manage your account and at the bottom select [Delete account]. Be sure to back up your account before hand.

I'm assuming you're talking about the email component of a G-mail account. If so, then you can't delete just that.

If you have a G-mail (Google) account, then you have all the other bells-and-whistles associated with the G-mail account - email, calender, drive, you-tube, etc etc

Interesting, seems they made some changes recently. Couple years back I was able to delete the gmail portion of my account while retaining all the other "bells & whistles".

Also interesting, I have the opposite experience.

Long, long time ago, I had a need to use a couple of Google products and opened a Google account with one of my existing email addresses which was NOT a gmail address. After some years, Google disallowed that, and I had to use a gmail address if I wanted to continue to use the other Google products. (The original email address is still used as a recovery email address)

Over time, my needs evolved, and I have only little use to no use left for the gmail address and the couple of Google products. I have been slowly phasing things out until one day > poof > everything is gone

Nope. As far as I'm aware that's never been the case.

I've known of instances where a user sets up a Google account, but never publishes the Gmail address and never uses it for anything.

Also possible to setup up an out-of-office message for any Gmail that is received.

There are (or used to be, anyway) 3rd party email programs that can bounce emails sent to the Gmail address (but whether the emails actually get bounced back to the sender, or just ignored, is another thing).

That would be me. In fact, I have two that I never publish and never use. One is for my wife. She passed away Nov 3, 2021. There is one face book account that still sends her updates. Sometimes I read them, sometimes not. But other than that, it receives no mail. The other one, which is mine, never receives any mail. I send it a test message every so often, from my real email address, just to make sure it still works.

I also have two Yahoo email accounts. Again, one for me and one for my wife. I keep the one for my wife in case an old friend sends a message and doesn't know she passed away. That account receives spam from an old ".msn" account that I thought we deleted about 15 years ago. The spam is being redirected from the ".msn" account to the Yahoo account. I tried to get into the ".msn" account recently, but they wanted me to jump through too many hoops to get access. Everything from that address goes directly to the spam folder and is stripped of any images or attachments. I usually then just mark them as "blocked".

The other Yahoo address is mine and is used for pretty much, everything. That address never receives any spam. But then, I don't make a habit of publishing it.

You can Delete certain Google services...



but..., the method is so convoluted, you might as well just not use the unwanted Gmail service and leave it dormant, or, delete the whole account...

@A Guy @Ghot Thanks for phrasing the response like that! I don't think it was a problem opening and putting things into accounts before Big Data came along. But I am much more cautious now, and others (like you) are too ...

Since deleting Gmail, I have the opportunity to add it back to my google account...

Well it's an "opportunity" at first. If you don't add it back in pretty soon... they send the enforcers.

Any idea how long they give you? I deleted gmail in January 2021.

They're probably just backed up.
