Hi, I seen that win 11 is planning to come with Direct Storage, Ive had a look through all the settings but didnt see anything with regards to it. Is it safe to assume this is just something that happens without me being able to see it?. Or would it possibly be for a later build.

I'd Thought as much based on not seeing it on the preview post or in any of the settings, I dont expect all the bells and whistles in the first dev build public wise, happy to wait but just wanted to know for sure

Frankly, my feelings are "where's the beef?". Lots of interface design changes, new icons, etc. But no new features or OS functionality I can see. I realize this is dev channel, but I expected something.

Yeah I get both sides of it. The auto hdr feature is pretty nice albeit available in the last win 10 dev build but none the less. I didnt expect much for a first dev build public wise. I'm just glad everything works as I expected certain things to be buggy etc

So I know that the direct storage requires a video adapter that specifically has support for it built-in. My assumption is then that there would be DirectX or APIs that would allow the programmer to specifically request direct access.

    The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

I would expect so, might be bundled somewhere within DX12 Ultimate
