Solved Disabling BITS keeps Windows from going into standby (probably)

Hi everyone, my PC wouldn't go to sleep and nothing I found on the web would help

It seems that disabling the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (which I did through Sordum's Windows Update Blocker) is what causes the issue; I keep getting consistent results about it on both windows 10 and 11 (though I'm not sure when the issue first appeared)

Since I wasn't able to find this information by myself in the first place, I will leave it here in case anyone will need it in the future. If anyone has any insight to give, they're always welcome :)

I do believe that BITS is part of Windows and not just for
updating Windows. I'm pretty sure other Windows operations
rely on this to function properly.

You might try to choose the Manual option in it's Properties instead of
Disabling it.

I use Windows Update Blocker to also disable services not related to windows update (for convenience, etc), so I used to disable BITS because the description made by Microsoft only talks about MSN (other than windows update), about which I don't really care

I confirm that setting BITS to manual does the trick
