Hello,
suddenly Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth is no longer working!
- It starts but then gets stuck at 62.3% ...
- sfc /scannow works fine ... no problems detected.
-Dism checkhealth and scanhealth also work.

I checked online with varying results ... no fix or very technical ... let alone re-install all.
(I installed 24H2 just a week ago)

Can I just ignore it since sfc works/no issues?
until Microsoft fixes it?

Any suggestions, please!

Thanks

I've had it "stick" there.

At that point, it was downloading files. Apparently, the Microsoft servers may not be highly responsive.

Just wait a while. It may finish.

I also halt at 62%, sometimes for extended periods, before finishing.

Hi All,
thanks, everyone, for the fast reply.
I'll try leaving it to it's own and see what happens.
On the other hand - it should be happening ... never did before.
If the Windows Server is faulty, they should look into that.
Wonder how to let Microsoft techies know?

Thanks

PS: here also super fast, custom built machine for image editing ... but regardless ... it never got stuck before

When there are errors it's perfectly normal for it to stop at 62.3% and do the repairs. Depending on how many errors and how big will determine how long it will take, just be patient and let it do it's thing as it will eventually finish.

Experience wise - i'm inclined to believe - that this troubleshooting commands are mostly Placebo. Tried them many times (in over a decade - maybe close to 15 years) - just cause there was no other alternative (nothing else seemed to work with a given issue - besides reinstall/reset/back-up restore and such) - and this were suppose to help in some way.... But never noticed any improvement - not once. Be it - found some corrupted system files and presumably fixed them (or so it claimed) - be it didn't found any issue - the actual problem i was hopping to solve... persisted. Pure waste of time, but kept trying them - like a religious practice - kinda like a prayer - but at least praying helped once in awhile - while this commands... never did - not a single time. That being said, maybe just pray instead of wasting time with this command - if anything - that could have some positive effect on your mind (while this BS commands - seem to do the opposite - a source of annoyance).

Totally hear you as they never seem to fix a problem you're troubleshooting and need fixed lol. I do thing they can straighten out a few minor issues though and an occasional non issue you don't want fixed lol. Case in point anytime I run SFC scannow I have to disable my custom Windows startup sound or it will flag it as an error and change it back to the default sound. Rather annoying but I'm use to it changing it every time if I don't change it before running it.

Windows is full of Garbage code. Quite literally a complete mess of an OS - in the sense - that they never did any cleaning, any major changes to optimize the code - to make it more efficient, to cut down and simplify more than 50% of the pilled-up redundant garbage code and useless policies which didn't make sense even when created - yet they were never remastered or removed. Seriously, in what programing Universe - does it make sense to have a policy that generates thousands of empty folders - piling up in the hundred of thousands? And they don't know how to fix it - cause it's ancient code - from a time when you just did what you were told - even if there were better ways to do something. If Windows was an individual - this is probably what it would look like:

unveiling-dark-side-unhealthy-indulgence-obese-man-s-love-affair-with-junk-food_1000124-131813.jpg

Underneath, cause on the outside...
rich-fat-man-sitting-gold-isolated-wealthy-luxury_1106493-236764.jpg

(both are A.I. generated - so not shaming anyone - just making a point).

In above photo - you have the Win 11 UI on top of all that filth...

So, that's what this commands fix... redundant garbage - which makes no impact (neither positive - nor negative). This CLI commands were introduced in 2009 with Windows 7 -ported through all the versions of Windows up till 11 - while keep adding more garbage code on top.

I like Windows 11. I've used Windows 11 since it was introduced, and for me it's always been fast, smooth, and problem free.

As always, YMMV.
Same here but i don't always 'use' Windows, i tweak it and frig about with it to the point of breaking it, just for entertainment.

I mean, sure - i get the individual experience....

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 185H
Memory : 32GB LPDDR5x
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
The raw hardware power - as defined by the technological advancement of CPU, GPU, Mem and Storage - is obviously noticeable. Another way to put it, if your system was a vehicle (raw power wise) and Windows 11 build 24H2 a guy - it would look a lot like this:

EpwEFcoHT8eBYRiS4YAcmw.webp

Running smoothly as you said, but we're ignoring the elephant in the room (taking into account - the level of code obesity - pushed under the rug - piling up for decades). That's not to say - one would need a heavy duty truck (like yours - power wise) - to handle its load. Again, technological advancements of this magnitude (past 10 decade alone) - are pretty hard to quantize using above analogy (thus, a heavy duty modern truck - is the most accurate representation of that raw power - despite being a laptop). But a serious diet and working out - to reduce that level of coding obesity - is more than welcomed at this point. Microsoft is really pushing it - simply because they're still holding a monopoly - still ignoring the disappointment of a large number of users coming from Windows 10.
