Does anyone know what process Win key + V actually opens?

Does anyone know or how to what process Win key + V actually opens? There is a bug in the recent builds of Windows 11 24H2 as seen on feedback hub that the clipboard will stop working after some uptime where no new entries will be added when copied to the clipboard and selecting something on the Win key + v will not paste. Normally, I can use some other tool to identify the process if the the window will remain open but in this case, the Win key + v window disappears if I click on another window. Thanks!

In the Clipboard viewer, it will show the latest few items that were copied. Clicking outside the windows will close it.
You can go to the 3 dots inside the upper right of the Clipboard window and Copy the item,, Pin it, or Delete it

That is not what I meant... I am asking what service or .exe does it actually open for that process as I am trying to find out what process it actually links to. What you say will work for a few days after rebooting in 26120.3073, 26120.3281, 26120.3291, 26120.3360 in which it will no longer add to the clipboard window as ctrl-c or copy will no longer update that window and while you can still click on an item inside, it also does not paste that item until one reboots.
Ctrl-c (copy) and ctrl-v (paste) will work still without using Win key + v though.
It's a bug in different versions of Windows that is 24H2 and later as it works correctly in Windows 11 23H2 as seen here:

The View menu allows viewing clipboard contents in various formats such as plain text, Unicode, HTML, RTF and OLE private data. In Windows XP, it is not listed in the Start menu and can only be accessed through its executable file, ClipBrd.exe .

That can't be correct because if you look at my screenshot, the win key + v window is opened but there is no ClipBrd.exe process running...

it is also not the Clipboard User Service as the clipboard still worked with the service stopped.

Seems to be a issue with Windows 24H2 as mentioned here, a reboot will fix it once it stops working after each system restart.

Works perfectly in my 24H2 26100.3323, your 24H2 26120.3360 is the Insider Dev/Beta build.

Try Task Manager's Details tab, sorted by CPU. Then use WinKey+V and give it something to do, such as selecting its animated Gifs. Looks like it's TextInputHost.exe. Right-click on it in Task Manager and select 'Open file location' takes you to:

"C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.CBS_cw5n1h2txyewy\TextInputHost.exe"

Is Clipboard history set to on in Windows?

Thanks, just tried this and I basically got up to this:

but nothing happens after I click on Open, basically not seeing step 6 at all in the original tutorial. It finally shows up after 10 minutes:

Not sure if it's broken or not as it basically will work fine for a random amount of time after each reboot and then the clipboard history no longer will paste if you click on a item. The pinned items are there but when it stops working, the following symptoms are present:
Clicking on the items shown will do nothing
No new items will be added when you copy something to the clipboard
copying and pasting without using the clipboard history still works as a workaround but it would be hard to copy a pinned item as that does not work.
Rebooting will fix it.

Maybe this is part of the explorer.exe process, haven't tested to see if restarting explorer.exe will fix it or not, will update the next time it happens which should be in the next day or so as I just rebooted a few hours ago.

It will work at the beginning after restarting but then stop working and won't work again until one reboots. Mines works now because I just rebooted but when it stops, only a reboot will fix it. I was trying to see what to sort by to show the most recent opened process... You are right, it is TextInputHost.exe as I suspended that process and the Win key + V no longer opens anything.

SystemInformer (forrmerly ProcessHacker) provides more information just by placing the mouse pointer over the process name:

Let me resume the process and see what happens:

Win Key + v works again and restarting the TextInputHost.exe did restart successfully... Many thanks @Bree!

I'll update the thread when it happens again and will report if restarting the process fixes it and if it does, will provide that as the non-reboot remedy to others on FBH and elsewhere where others have the problems.

only other thing it may invoke, but i doubt as i believe this is when something is actually copied to the clipboard..

Hotkey detective also says it is part of Windows Explorer as seen in the comment I made right before yours being explorer.exe.

I already tried stopping the Clipboard User Service which on my system is named cbdhsvc_4d4888 but it did not prevent Windows Key + V from working.

TextInputHost.exe as @Bree had mentioned that when I suspended the TextInputHost.exe process did make Windows Key + V not do anything and when TextInputHost.exe was resumed as a process, the Windows Key + V key did work again. I just tested this again and both Windows Key + V and Windows Key + . which seems to be go to the Emoji section of the same window does not work when TextInputHost.exe is suspended as a process while Windows Key + E (File Explorer), Windows Key+ A (Action Center), Windows Key + I (Settings), Windows Key + L (Lock), Windows Key + S (Search), Windows Key + D (Show/Hide Desktop), Windows Key + R (Run), Windows Key + Ctrl + D (Add virtual desktop), Windows Key + Ctrl + F4 (Close virtual desktop), Windows Key + Ctrl + Left/Right Arrow (Switch virtual desktops) , Windows Key + Up Arrow, Windows Key + Down Arrow, Alt-Tab, Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V all functioned normally.
