Your TV appears to be an older one. It may not support Miracast. However, the table below indicates your TV may support Screen Mirroring. You will have to check you documentation to see how to activate it and see if it works with Miracast.

Which Sony TV have Screen Mirroring?

Please refer to below table for the Sony TV which support Screen Mirorring.

2019 A8G, W61G, W66G, W62G, W67G, W80G, X70G, X80G, X85G (KD-43/49), X90G
...
2013 X85A, X9xxxA, W9xxA, W8xxA, W7xxA, W6xxA, W5xxA, S9xxA, R5xxA

What is Screen Mirroring and how do I use it with my Sony TV?

Every TV is different, especially older ones. With newer ones they probably support Miracast. With older ones you have to do some research and experimentation to see what they support.

Here is what I see if I select Cast on my laptop:

1693535837567.jpeg

The 1st is a Samsung TV I bought in early 2020 (2019 model). It does support Miracast. To complete the cast all I have to do is use the remote on the TV and select to accept it.

The 2nd is a Samsung Blu-Ray player. The TV it is connected to is too old for Miracast so I use the Blu-Ray player instead. Unlike the newer Samsung TV, I have to start the Screen Mirroring app on the Blu-Ray player for the computer to see it.

Frankly, I found miracast to be too much of a PITA.

Chromecast is far superior and works on any dumb tv even provided it has an hdmi socket to plug in the Chromecast dongle to.

It is far more efficient as well when streaking online stuff as it hands off the streaming to the dongle.

Your Sony TV is quite old and does not support Miracast. I have a couple of similar age and brand, neither support Miracast.

DxDiag report of available, only checks part of the system. All your hardware must be supported to be actually available.

The Sony TV is 2014 model & used to work with an old Asus Transformer Intel Atom tablet with Windows 10.

The HP All-in One has no video outputs of any type.

I see no available displays even after I have done this & the Sony TV is shown as a device.
The TV's remote has no input selection for Screen mirroring.
It used to just automatically switch to cast when the PC requested it.

I got it to cast a picture to the TV by selecting the following on the TV:
Media--Photo
The TV screen then showed as a selection the HP_ALL-IN-One
Put the photo in one of the folders shown on the TV.

So it can cast specific items from specific folders, so why can't it cast everything shown on the PC screen?
It must be a Windows 11 bug.

Scroll down to the bottom of this tutorial & Brink says: "It appears the Control Banner has been removed along with the game mode, working mode, or watching videos settings."

You can't cast to your TV because it doesn't support Mircast. It is as simple as that.

Before Miracast there wasn't standard used for all TVs. For example my 11 year old Samsung TV has an app called TV Cast. Back when I first got the TV I think I could only use it with the TV Cast for Samsung TV app on my phone. It no longer works.

Modern TVs support Miracast. You can cast to them from any computer or other device that also supports Miracast.

It must be a Windows 11 bug.
There are two quite different and seperate ways to cast, Miracast and DLNA.

Your TV is older, like my Panasonic Viera. Mine does not support Miracast, but both yours and mine do support DLNA.

I got it to cast a picture to the TV by selecting the following on the TV:
Media--Photo
The TV screen then showed as a selection the HP_ALL-IN-One
Put the photo in one of the folders shown on the TV.
You were using DLNA to do that.

You can cast any media file using DLNA, video, audio or photos. Right-click on any media file (eg an .mp4), select 'Show more options', then you should see the TV as a device you can cast to. Select it and you'll cast the .mp4 to your TV. The one thing that you cannot do with DLNA is cast your desktop, for that you need a Miracast enabled TV (or an HDMI cable to connect the PC to the TV).

Can't do that because the PC doesn't have HDMI. It would need a USB to HDMI adapter. Don't need more than 1920x1080.

...Right-click on any media file (eg an .mp4), select 'Show more options', then you should see the TV as a device you can cast to. Select it and you'll cast the .mp4 to your TV...
jpg file displays for 5 sec & then returns to TV.
mp3 file plays until complete. Put in more than one & it will play them all. Also displays the mp3 data on the TV screen. TV remote can control the functions. That's pretty cool since vintage stereo is connected to the TV's fiber audio output.

The idea is that you can cast a folder full of jpegs and get a slideshow. There's a 'Repeat' button at the bottom left to loop the slideshow forever, or until you close Cast to Device.

Click the pause button in Cast to Device and the current picture will stay on the TV for as long as you want. If you click Next >>| it will step to the next one and resume the slideshow. An mp4 will play to completion too, I can pause, go forwards or back, mute/un-mute or control the volume from the PC in Cast to Device, or from the TV using its remote.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Can't do that because the PC doesn't have HDMI.
If the PC is already Miracast-capable then you can make your TV Miracast-capable by plugging in adapter like the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter (other brands are available). The adapter has two leads, both plug into the TV, a USB to get power and an HDMI to feed the picture/sound to the TV.

Me, I just bought a very long HDMI lead
