By "bin it", do you mean Delete the shortcut?Just bin it. If it comes back, then might need further investigation.
Yes. If you just delete it, it will be in your Recycle Bin if you find you need to restore it.By "bin it", do you mean Delete the shortcut?
OK done, but I've only the deleted the short cut not whatever app is using it. My fear was that it might be something malicious.Yes. If you just delete it, it will be in your Recycle Bin if you find you need to restore it.
Turns out that it didn't Delete. I need permission to perform this action. It's my personal computer and there is no admin. Apparently it's indestructable!OK done, but I've only the deleted the short cut not whatever app is using it. My fear was that it might be something malicious.
Can you post screenshots of all the right click Properties?Turns out that it didn't Delete. I need permission to perform this action. It's my personal computer and there is no admin. Apparently it's indestructable!
Why would I need permission to delete it?This is an internet shortcut (URL) to a web page
Seems to be a close window descriptor..., another script had to have initiated that process..., check into it carefully and cautiously! Here's the latest.
I'm the one who had to clarify if "bin it" meant to delete it. Cautiously, means "leave it alone" at my level of expertise.Seems to be a close window descriptor..., another script had to have initiated that process..., check into it carefully and cautiously!
Go to the Details Tab of the Properties window to see what the URL actually points to.I'm the one who had to clarify if "bin it" meant to delete it. Cautiously, means "leave it alone" at my level of expertise.
It is only a short cut. If it is something that can cause harm it will still be installed. Seeing it is only a shortcut I seriously doubt that removing the shortcut is going to be a serious problem.Oh my gawd! Not another person who stores things they may someday want, in their recycle bin.
There is a reason why, the icon for the Recycle Bin is a trash can. Trash cans get emptied!!!
If you have things you want to take out of circulation, but think you may want again some day, create a folder of your own, for them.
Call that folder whatever you want: Junk, Misc, Reserved, or Suspense.
But NEVER put anything in the 'Recycle Bin' that you may ever want to see again.
My own "Win-11Cleanup.bat" program (Batch File) empties all recycle bins, every time I run it.
Cheers Mates! Interesting thread!
