I am forced to sign in with my Microsoft username rather than my local username (admin authority). My only folder in my Users Folder is one with my local user name. That isn’t so much the problem as this:
A real folder (not shortcut) with my Microsoft username with contents that are duplicates of the ones in the folder with my local username has been created on the desktop, even though a folder with my Microsoft username does not exist in my Users folder. The one with the Microsoft username (on my desktop) is kept by the system identical (except for title) to the one with my local username (in the Users folder).
How do I get rid of the folder with my Microsoft username without deleting the duplicate one with my local username?

Welcome to the forum.
By default when using a MS account, your desktop, documents, pictures, and videos folders are located in Onedrive, not in C:\users\username.
I can't say I can follow all that but sounds to me like you have attempted to either get rid of onedrive or move your files away from onedrive and did it incorrectly and I have no idea exactly how or what you have done. For this to work correctly one must follow a series of events in a particular order. The only way for a user folder to be created on the desktop is by your actions.

The most straightforward way to handle this is use an external drive, create folders desktop, documents, pictures, and videos.
Copy (not move) your files from where ever they actually are into these folders.

Create a new local account. Make sure you change this account's type to administrator.

Restart computer and login to this new local account. After your desktop is created, copy your files from the external drive into this account's user folders.

Go to settings>accounts>other users and delete the 2 screwed up accounts.

If you don't want onedrive starting when windows starts, open control panel, startup apps, and disable onedrive from auto-starting.
Any tweaks you used in your old user account will have to be done again.
