Solved During boot: Checking media presence... (UEFI help needed)

I had just successfully upgraded to 24H2 26100.712 and started resetting some preferences that the new version had changed. All seemed to be well, but I wanted to reboot for some reason. During the bootup, a line I'd never seen before showed up at the top left of the black screen: "Checking media presence." That was followed by a quick "No media present," and then boot continued successfully. But in Task Manager, last boot time had gone from the usual 9-12 seconds to 25+ seconds.

I thought I could find the culprit in the UEFI settings, but whatever I tried didn't get rid of the boot delay and the "Checking" process that caused it.

I would appreciate some UEFI guidance here.

This is System Two, and the specs are up to date.

I have seen that message for attempting to boot from network in some bios. This can happen if the bios was updated and loses its boot priority list. Check your boot sequence for what is chosen to run at startup. Just make the windows disk the first item.

Andrew, that was it! I took the networks completely out of the three boot sequences in the UEFI settings, and the "Checking" thing is gone, and my last boot time was 10 seconds flat in Task Manager.
