This is on a search for 'RTX 5090' on Ebay UK.
The actual description reads 'you will receive a photo of a 5090, no actual graphics card'

Since I saw this several more have appeared with similar listings.

I saw a lot of those during the COVID pandemic, when it was difficult to get a high-end graphics card without dealing with a scalper.

I wonder whether any wannabe scalper ever fell for one?

I've seen a couple of these items and have reported them so we'll see what answer is forthcoming.

I recently reported an item offering a 2 Tb thumb drive with Sandisk logos for £7 with free postage. My report was rejected with Ebay saying it did not break their listing practices! I suspect the answer came from AI not a human.

Its on the user, If you buy something that says for example rtx5090, you really should be reading the full thing anyway, If you get caught out when it clearly says, then thats on you. Of course it shouldn't exist, But people have ran scams for thousands of years, It aint changing anytime soon. If you get caught out via something like this, then i assume you don't know how to use the internet properly.

Also its a great way of tripping up scalping bots i believe thats the main purpose.

A retarded manager i used to work with thought he was onto a bargain buying 10 large flat screen TV's at £100 a piece, he tied to encourage me to join in the purchase ring but i declined, after a day he showed me the purchase confirmation for 10 Flat screen TV manuals.

More like they haven’t had attention brought to them by enough users.

Ebay, in my opinion, is the home of scams. I left them a couple of years ago after being a member since its conception. It’s just a joke. But I will say I never had a problem getting my money back if a product turned out to be a scam.
