Good evenings all,
Although all Edge settings seem correct I can not make Edge asking to save a password when logging in to a website.
I double checked all the settings and disabled all extensions. Still no go :-(
Please advice
Thanks

I can see a few complaints on MS forum about this since August, but I checked the feedback hub and there are only a handful.
Make sure all 3 options are toggled on in Edge settings>passwords. Restart Edge.
Then try this:
clear your cache. Restart Edge.
Close Edge and repair it. settings>apps>installed apps>select MS Edge>click 3 dots>select modifiy.Select repair

I had the same thing happen with Firefox recently. It lasted a few days but then corrected somehow. Maybe it is a temporary glitch and the issue with Edge will correct itself? Maybe wait a few days and try again?

If only one site and login isn't working I wouldn't mess with the registry until I tried fixing that particular site.
Go to edge-settings-passwords. Scroll down to saved passwords. Click the 3 dots by the one that is not entering correct password and delete.
Then go to the site and login. See if Edge won't record it correctly then.

I restarted / rebooted the system various times. Still no go on my laptop.
Used regedit to check PasswordManagerEnabled , but the setting is not there. As a matter of fact HKLM is not even there. So there must be a good reason for that. (do not plan adding the key)
On my phone the password manager does ask if they should be saved and they do sync from my phone to my laptop.

That's impossible. HKLM is HKey_Local_Machine. Windows won't run without it.
Working in the registry can cause serious consequences so I advise anyone who is unfamiliar with it,
which is most people, to stay away from it. It's the easiest way of breaking your operating system so you are smart to be cautious if you are unsure.
It is perfectly safe to rely on regedit files from
reputable sources like Brink's tutorials. He always gives an opposing regedit file that will undo any changes his file makes.
For anyone who does make changes to the registry one should always backup any key that is changed. (or backup the entire registry) Despite working in the registry for many years, I still find it to be a scary place and am still wary of it.

I added the key, but it did not change much besides making it impossible to toggle PW on/off and it added the Famous "Managed by your organisation" to the Settings Menu. But PW still not being saved.
So I removed it again.
