Edge stable 114.0.1823.55 x64 hesitates loading pages. I haven't noticed this in any Edge before. It is like it renders the page in some buffer and shows it after it is complete. It is almost like a throwback to Windows 98. It is kind of disconcerting. Just when you feel something is wrong the complete page pops up.

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.22621.1413 (See system 2 specs for complete build info.)

Flushing browser DNS might help. Go to edge://net-internals/#dns and click Clear host cache.

P.s you need to restart edge for effect.

are you by any chance using bing as default search engine?

try toggling hardware acceleration:

I'm using the same version of Edge with none of these issues. Clearing the cache option suggested by @James is a good thing to try.

Alternatively you can repair edge- do so through app options in settings- or check for bad browser extensions? I suppose just disable each one-by-one see if one in particular is causing the issue.

The other thing to try to make sure OS and its components are in tip top shape is to run the sfc /scannow command from the Command Prompt with Admin rights.

Hi. It is probably a bit of a mess. I lost thumbnails in Fast Dial so installed the edge beta. It did not work any better so I removed it. For the moment I have both thumbnails and more familiar behavior. :-)

Thanks for the reply.

I don't think I can get there from here since I disabled updates and virus apps. Only thing driving me crazy is every time I do a Macrium image save I have to turn off firewall again. Is this my machine or am I only renting it? At least the old 8088 in my first PC booted in Real Mode and did not undo everything I did. Heh heh.

I'm using the same version of Edge with none of these issues. Clearing the cache option suggested by @James is a good thing to try.
It is a weird thing. The trouble is I like using Edge. But any little glitch it seems the first thing to go are the speeddial thumbnails.

Heh heh heh.

Thanks for the reply.

Heh heh. I have noticed many of my browsers do not pick up the update when there are downloads available on the dependable sites like Major Geeks and Softpedia. Often I have to download the installer and run it or I would fall behind.

Flushing browser DNS might help. Go to edge://net-internals/#dns and click Clear host cache.

P.s you need to restart edge for effect.

Thanks. I did this too just for grins. It seems okay for the moment.

If Edge is playing up the other thing to try is to run Edge InPrivate Mode (aka safe mode) as a diagnostic tool.
