After applying encrypted DNS to Windows 11, I am applied Encrypted DNS to my Edge Browser. While doing so, I noticed that the Microsoft Secure Network is grayed out and unable to be altered. Reading up on the Microsoft Secure Network, it appears that it is much like Encrypted DNS. Is that assumption correct?

Do you know why my Microsoft Secure Network is grayed out? It says something about managed browser. But my browser is in its "Personal" profile, and there is no one managing it.

This following page (answers dot Microsoft dot com page) says to look at the profiles to see which policies were applied:

In my case, there are no policies applied. So I am curious. Anyone have any ideas?

The bottom screenshot shows the DNS and top screenshot shows the policies.

Microsoft Edge Secure Network was a VPN service (operated by MS), which was retired on Feb. 28, 2025. That's why it's greyed out.

They'll probably rip that section out in an upcoming Edge browser release.

The Microsoft VPN service which finished on that date was Privacy protection in Microsoft Defender (included with Microsoft 365 Personal/Family):
The privacy protection (VPN) feature within Defender is going away February 28, 2025.

End of support-Privacy protection (VPN) in Microsoft Defender for individuals

Microsoft Edge Secure Network is free for up to 5GB per month:

Do you have a work or school account connected at Settings, Accounts, Access work or school?

To answer your question directly: I have a free Microsoft account linked in Accounts.

In addition to the free Microsoft account, I have two enterprise E-3 accounts. One is for me, and I created the other for our small group working on a project.
