Error installing Intel Graphics Driver 31.0.101.4255 on Windows 11

According to the manufacturer, the driver for this system is 27.20.100.9664.
It is not always recommended to use a non-OEM specific driver for a laptop.
The latest is not always the best when it comes to drivers.

That's a different more powerful HP laptop: HP Notebook - 15s-fq0003nl Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support - which comes with Windows 10 Home.

He has a bare minimum 4GB Ram entry level HP laptop: HP Notebook 15s-fq1515na Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support - which comes with Windows 10 Home S Mode (which means he can only access drivers and apps - from Windows Updates or Microsoft Store). Which also means - even HP can't offer any drivers for this model: HP Notebook 15s-fq1515na Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support

So much for "you should only install drivers from OEM" - which can be pure and utter BS - when it comes to GPU Drivers. His CPU/GPU model is covered by 6th - 10th Gen Processors Legacy Drivers - so this is what he should install:

Tho, first he'll have to opt out of S Mode (if that's still the running mode for the OS) - to be able to access/install external drivers/software.

You can disable Windows Update using Shutup for Windows 10 O&O ShutUp10++ – Free antispy tool for Windows 10 and 11 but is not recommended. It is better to block only specific updates with wushowhide or WAU. Yes, you have to keep an eye and disable any new update is available, but it is working. Once you block an update it never gets installed again.

But, why?! 🤔 Windows Updates is not the issue - not when it comes to this particular case. First of all - he was trying to install the wrong drivers (which do not support his devices).

2nd - this specific laptop model is suppose to come with Windows 10 Home S Mode (which is bound to Windows Updates and Microsoft Store - as the only allowed source for Drivers/Software installation). Which in turn - also means there's no OEM drivers (again, released only through Windows Updates).

3rd, multiple advices from this topic are actually biased (like the understanding - that OEM drivers are always the best choice... especially when it comes to GPU Drivers and older models - where OEM Drivers tend to be the worst choice) and misleading (coming from people who don't seem to know the proper way to install GPU drivers - thus, having issues themselves). As in... while doing a clean install with DDU - you're suppose to download the recommended driver package prior to cleaning - then you either disable the Windows feature which auto-installs drivers (tho, it can take extra steps) or disable/unplug the internet connection (what i would recommend - most convenient choice) - boot in safe-mode and do the cleaning, boot into Windows - and only now you install the drivers (with NW disabled). If the auto-drivers install or the internet is not disabled - you'll be racing with Windows getting triggered - for a required driver installation (since it detects the basic drives) - and with today's internet speed - guess who will get to start the drier install first (Windows is the clear winner - obviously)?

4th - there's also a proper/better way to use Windows Updates - to avoid unnecessary auto-installs. As in - from Windows Updates - > Advanced Option - turn Off "Download Updates Over Metered Connections" and set your Network To Metered (you find this option in Network And Internet - either under Ethernet or Wi-Fi - whatever you're using). Thus, it can only install drivers automatically - if the current driver is broken or missing (see above steps). It's also easier to hide updates this way - cause they can't download updates over metered connection without your permission. Tho, this option is not recommend for complete beginners (since this is the manual mode of updating Windows - meant for Windows users with some basic knowledge - users who also have an interest in the proper maintenance of Windows - while aiming to avoid possible issues created by Windows Updates).

5th, his iGPU - is a legacy product when it comes to Drivers Updates (updates are rare - and unless you're part of one of the beta programs - you won't even get the latest version through Windows Updates - nor is it common for Windows to force their installation - except for Graphics Command Center). So this would be the proper drivers: Intel® 6th-10th Gen Processor Graphics - Windows But his laptop model is suppose to come with S Mode version of Windows - so first - he'll have to opt out of S Mode - to be allowed to install drivers from other sources. Same goes for using Intel Driver & Support Assistant.

Windows S mode block any applications outside the Microsoft Store, including drivers. You either rely on Windows Update (not the best option) or upgrade to the full Windows 11 Home to install the official drivers. Don't hesitate, upgrade now, it's free.

I think you got the main root of the pbm, and I don't have any material parts of the pbm because I didn't have these errors when I had Windows 10 installed already by HP.

And now as i have a Win11 family version i can't get it out of the S mode !

And this was the response type that I expected: "right and precise information." Just for your information, I just boosted the RAM and the processor on my PC, and all I do with my laptop is office work; nothing hard on the processor or graphics. I did try to get it out of S mode, but as I have a Win 11 Family version, i will another way to do it ! This bug comes up sometimes, not all the time! just forces me to force restart the PC.
anyways i am still in search thanks
