Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Build: 22631
I have a problem that I can't solve.

I have a dual boot system with windows 7 and windows 11 and with the bios everything worked normally.

Now I have installed a new hardware based on uefi, and at startup windows 7 no longer works, the blue screen appears as described in the subject, while windows 11 works normally.

I tried to restore the startup with the recovery disk, but it doesn't solve it.

I don't want or have time to reinstall the OS. It's too complex...

Do you know and can you help me?

If you are trying to install Windows 11 24H2 on your Intel Core 2 Duo, it won't work as it lacks the required SSE4.2 instruction set and specifically the PopCnt instruction. The latest version you can install on that is 23H2, after you bypass compatibility check of course.

Sorry, I updated the signature..
The problem is that after upgrading the Win11 system it opens normally, while win7 gives an error.
I tried to restore the boot but nothing.
Do you have any solutions?

I hope you didn't convert the disk from MBR (legacy BIOS boot) to GPT (UEFI boot). If you did, you can try using EasyUEFI utility to add the property Windows 7 boot entry. If the disk is still MBR, you can use the EasyBCD instead.

See if you can repair (or remove and add again) the Windows 7 boot entry with EasyBCD.

Instead of messing with the command bcdedit in Command Prompt to modify the Windows Bootloader, you can use a utility called EasyBCD that lets you add/remove and modify boot entries using your mouse.

Sorry, but the result is the same problem, maybe I have to reboot when I remove before inserting it again?
But after adding the partition again, I go to advanced settings, then save settings leaving default, then backup/repair bcd, recreate or repair boot files, execute the action.
is this correct?
Do you know a way to boot Windows 7 directly from HDD?

You may boot with the Windows 7 Setup DVD or USB flash drive and then select Repair Windows. This might allow you to boot back to Windows 7 but it most likely disable booting to Windows 11. That's why I told you to fix the Windows Bootloader in Windows 11 and not in Windows 7. Since it is not easy to find the correct parameters and fix the Windows 7 boot entry, that's why I suggested to delete it and add it again.

When I try with USB flash, it doesn't even see the WindowsImageBackup of Win7 file that I have on another disk, and if I do restore the PC it gives me an error...
Do you know a way to boot Windows 7 directly from HDD?

There is a Windows 10/11 live USB (aka WinPE), the Sergei Strelec WinPE. When you boot from it, you see a list with options to boot into Windows 10 or 11 with tools and others. One of them is to try to find a Windows installation on the hard disk and attempt to load it. This way you can boot into Windows 7 since probably the boot files are damaged. Then you can run Windows 7 Setup and do an in-place upgrade/repair to fix Windows 7.

Alternatively, I would upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 and then to 11.

I discovered that the problem is in the recognition of the letter of the hdd where Windows 7 is installed, but I don't understand what happened by changing the motherboard, unless I reversed the sata connectors, or because when I changed the board I did it only with win11 installed.


In the recovery environment I was checking the hdd and putting the letter of win7 (F), the check on the Windows 11 disk (C) started


I hope I was clear.

Strelec has many tools. One of them is to fix the drive letters. However, I would try first to connect the Windows 7 disk in SATA 0 (or 1, whichever is first) and the Windows 11 disk on SATA 1 (or 2).
