Event Viewer error: Ethernet Controller–Network Link disconnected shown on Win 11 Pro system.
I’ve had issues using a program run from master system on my ethernet home LAN of 4 Win 10 systems plus one Win 11 Pro slave system (\\capa). Program runs fine on other slave systems, but doesn’t communicate properly with Win 11 slave system (\\capa), although folders on \\capa are viewable and can copy files to and from \\capa to other systems on LAN.

Please be a bit more descriptive as to the program that you are running on your network.
Is the program known to be compatible with Win11?
Are we discussing file sharing, media sharing, or??
Does the Win11 system operate on the network normally outside of the use of this "master" program? i.e.- web browsing, email, other forms of network use?

It's an old DOS program, called RTHomeServer used to run software from master system on slave systems. It does work but intermittently on most of the slave cores. As an old DOS program, RTHomeserver is likely incompatible with Windows 10 or 11. Basic issue is intermittent communications. Here's a typical error messages from log file on slave systems:
"7/7/2024 12:34:28 PM TCP.ServClientError: Error 10048 in function Bind Address already in use *GetLastError=0."
LAN has 5 Win 10 systems, one of which is Master system for RTHomeServer; the Win 11 Pro system is also a slave system.
I've been told to use MS WSH for this purpose instead of 30-year-old DOS system, but unfortunately never could get WSH to work over LAN.

Thanks, Johanna

A quick search of Internet using the error info that you provided gave me this:

The error usually means that the port you are trying to open is being already used by another application. Try using netstat to see which ports are open and then use an available port.
Perhaps, if you can zero-in on the Port issue you may be able to select a different Port number for RTHomeServer to use?

Hope this helps.
