I have a problem with excel, that hopefully can be sorted.
When you are in a spreadsheet you click on a cell to type, change the value etc. but your eyes are drawn to the cell that you are making changes to - NOT the "ruler" (rows 1, 2, 3, etc. and Columns A, B, C, etc.) so you don't notice the grey colour there, besides sometimes lining up the intersection of the rows and columns is a lengthy task. Now the problem rears it's ugly head, you enter your new figure but because the border of the selected cell is only very slightly different from the other cells you enter the value in the wrong cell, now you have to try and figure out what it was or undo what you just typed - time consuming and very irritating. My question is this, is there a way to change the border colour of the active cell in excel to make things easier?

Could you post a screenshot to show what you mean? Is it the border around the selected cell you want to make more obvious or the column letters and row numbers?

the active cell is C3 "1400" but very difficult to see at a glance. I want to make the border around the active cell more obvious (like a thicker border or something.

Oh, I see. The green backgrounds don't help. Is that from the template you are using?

Without the green the selcted cell is quite obvious.

yes, is it your suggestion to get another fill colour in place of the green background?

Thank you - is there anyway you know how to change the border colour, thickness of the active cell, perhaps to make it filled in in a certain colour?

Not that I know of, but you just need to change the cell format fill colour to something that contrast with the green of a highlit cell.

This is the "colorful" theme of Microsoft Office 2016 or newer. The only way to change the selection border color is to select another theme (if available), such as gray or black. Don't select white, it will be like Office 2013 (everything white) and difficult to see.

Thanks for your help guys - I'm using the black theme, doesn't really make a difference but I'm battling, Microsoft should really allow users to customise the active cell selection thingy.
