Over the past few weeks I've notice my pc hanging a lot.
In the task manager I notice Edge was under my start up apps ( which hardly ever use) and was using 60% & sometimes using up to 80% of my CPU.
I disabled Edge from start up & ended any tasks when I saw it running.
My pc came right for a while & then it started with firefox which is the browser I normally use.
My pc doesn't use my ram, it is just the CPU usage that is high.
When I opened my snipping tool the CPU usage dropped to almost 0%.

I done a search a while back to see if any of my personal information had been compromised & found quite a few of my old passwords & email addresses were visible on the dark web but these were all for websites I had used more than 10 years ago.
All these passwords were on my google password manager.
I have since deleted all my passwords in my google password manager & unsubscribes from the websites that I could.

I'm using Windows 11 version 24H2 (os Build) 26 100, 2605);
My current processor is a : - Intel(R) Celeron(R) J4005 CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz

I tried to run a full scan on windows defender last week but after it was running for two day, I stopped it.
If I run a smart scan it only take about 10 minutes to complete.

In the screenshot attached it looks like I have multiple pages in firefox open but I only have one page open.

Could this be a virus or spyware or could there be something else that is the issue?

P.S I wasn't sure which thread to post this in so I use general.
If this is the incorrect thread could admin please move it to the correct thread for me?

Try clean boot a clean boot is a troubleshooting technique that allows you to get the computer up and running so that you can perform diagnostic tests to determine which elements of the normal boot process are causing problems.

After a clean boot my pc seems to be running normal.
CPU remaing below 60% except on startup.
I'll keep an eye on it though.

Thank you

You can enable a group of 3rd party software to see if the issue returns and drill it down. You can also install Glasswire and with a little learning monitor anything that calls out and to where

Only took 10 minutes for a quick scan? Mine takes 53 seconds so there is probably something nefarious running in the background. Your PC is not helped by the fact it has a dual-core Celeron!

I downloaded & installed CCleaner.
I then rebooted my pc & ran a scan.
while the scan was running AVG free version automatically installed itself on my pc.
Last year I did have AVG antivirus but cancelled it I think it was around February this year.
As soon as the scan had finished I uninstalled AVG immediately.

The free version have a lot less function that the software he is using in the youtube vlog but it is very usefull.
The free version is picking up processes that my task manager isn't or isn't showing me.
It looks like with the paid version I might even be able to see if someone tries to log into my cctv system which can be very handy.
